Nobody is obligated to spend to the cap, as many others didn't in the past.

It's pretty simple. Clearly the low cap didn't stop the likes of Wasps taking the mick nor the likes of London Irish and Worcester from going out of business. The low cap has absolutely devalued the competition and that is a bigger contributing factor in the decline of domestic rugby. Let those that can, bring others up and not lower everyone to the weakest.

Clubs like Leicester were very vocal in the past and played a large part in getting to the previous 7.5 million, now that doesn't suit their agenda they had a similar hand in getting the cap reduced. Other unnamed clubs were also perfectly happy to cost Bristol a million last season when they blocked the season opener from being played with no recompense. What are the odds "Wasps" will be allowed to start in the championship instead of tier 6 unlike every other club that had gone before? It stinks.

Something like 9 million would be a good start for the 24-25 season and allow those wanting to grow the game to do so. You will never attract appropriate TV rights, sponsorship and investment otherwise.

Hahah right ok your idea of the comp sounds like you want yourself and sarries to just buy every single player in the league and to hell with competition. If other teams go bust in the process of trying to compete then to hell with them

Yeah, that's exactly what happened in the past, wasn't it? No? Oh, so what's changed now? Different sides being successful. Right.

How did that multi million pound Quins joint venture with the RFU into USA rugby go by the way? Seen much ROI?

Or develop their age grade systems so they can play more home grown players rather than spending £17m on a team full of superstars you've got to replace every 2 years

That would mean the RFU would have to go about academies fairly, wouldn't it? Never going to happen. Still, Bristol won the u18 competition last year (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/60563716) in spite of having the smallest catchment area in the premiership. As an aside it must be nice having the entire north west feeding straight into one franchise. Due to that Sharks definitely didn't sign born and bread Bristol Phillips near the end his career for a decent wedge, or are we more talking about the Bristol home grown players like Genge that started this discussion?

Firstly, all I get that Steve Lansdown is a seriously wealthy bloke but he did say earlier this year he was open to selling the whole package incl. the bears so that untapped cash pot may vanish. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/lansdown-bristol-bears-city-sale-8225198

I will also say, if clubs are keeping their heads above the water then that's good for now. Not having a team to watch stinks.

We have to accept that the Prem is wounded but throwing money at it clearly isn't an easy fix. Wasps tried throwing money at it, COVID happened and we fell apart. Clubs need time to reconcile, deal with the effects of COVID (Which are still ongoing) and become stable models.

At the moment i highly doubt any club is self-sufficient without a Lansdown, Craig or Rowe etc putting their hand in their pockets.

Rumours coming out that Lewis Ludlham and Kyle Sinckler have both signed for Toulon from next season as well as Matteo Carreras to Bayonne.

Exodus will continue i am sure.

Exedus is a strong word, but even so post WC is when you expect to see this. Players moving on. Sinks isnt on great form and maybe thinks its better to get a payday in france than rely on being in the England squad. Ludlam likely thought the same as while he's gone well he is no where near first choice.

There will be a few more im sure.

Maybe... i think we will see more go for sure. Think Sinckler isn't too much for a loss for Bristol but for Saints and Falcons respectively, two huge losses.

The leadership of Ludlham and Ribbans both going could significantly impact Saints whilst Carreras going is a huge draw and quality for Falcons
