Transfers rumours

I will chuck a rumour out there and see if it sticks.... Ollie Lawrence to Wasps? out of contract this year and spotted in Alfie Barbeary Insta story.

Maybe just seeing a friend but we could really use him... and don't see any other reason for him to be there bar potentially that. @EdBirch ?
With Fekitoa rumoured to be off, Lawrence could be a very good option.

A midfield of Lawrence at Odogwu could potentially be very exciting.

Tbf, Hougaard and Mills are at Wasps now so it's likely it was just a friendly visit. Fans seem to think he still has a year on contract

I disagree, Lawrence is a 13 not a 12 IMO(and where he mostly plays) doesnt have the distributing game or the power game of a 12. Strong runner but not a Manu.

For England(at 12) he was like Teo, carries he gets stopped, or passes and has v little impact.

At 13 he can break tackles running in abit more space.

With Odogwu i think 1 of them is wasted.

Cant see Lawrence going anywhere he wont be first choice.

If he were to leave then I could see him going to Bath (and I've been thinking that for a while tbh)
They'll be after a 13 if JJ leaves and their dip (while funny) will likely reverse with a change in coaching staff
Plus he and Redpath are BFFL and played together at age grade

Lawrence might not be a 12 at test level, but he's easily capable of playing there in the Premiership (which is what I'm talking about). He and Odogwu together could be very dangerous in attack. Maybe not so good in defence.

I also think you're underrating Lawrence's distribution skills and power off the back of his England games. I'm not sure that's fair or representative of his skill set. As I recall, he barely got the ball and when he did, he was basically given hospital passes with a defender already on him and anyone would have struggled to make metres.

Although, having said all of that, I do think he is better at 13 and as Olyy said, he and Redpath at Bath would be a better combination.

I suppose this will all be squashed if he has a year to go but there will be swirling rumours.

Talk Tigers might be looking at obano. (Not from any of my usual guys)
I thought he was supposed to be going to Sarries - missing London.

But that Bristol have gone for Genge rather than Vunipola may well swing that.

He's a good player, and national squad fringe players are invaluable, but he does have a big salary currently, and truly knackered knees

Suppose he's a bristolian isn't he so probably an easy one to swing with Genge.

That I could pick? prob Tom West.
I love this and hate this at the same time :).

In all seriousness i think he's such a key asset to our squad and scrum. Doesn't get picked for England (although close) but scrums very well, carrys when he needs to and we regularly get 60 mins plus out of him.

Everyone says when we lost Stuart that this was a huge loss for our scrum but West re-signing was just as big a gain. Imagine if we had kept Alfie at Hooker and had those two either side. Even Cruse/Oghre
