Transfers rumours

and that's 3 more + one for Montpellier, lock Nico Janse Van Rensburg (22), Winger Duhan Van der Merwe (22), fly half Josh Stander (22)and already signed full back Harry Immelman(21) and i presume they willl probably count as Jiff is they are in the Academy. Clever thinking Jake White. Not going to please the press or the French but thats life if it means we have a better shot this season at the Bouclier, it's not a problem for me or the club.!!!!!!!!!!!

You could possibly be my assistant but the pay is not great in your position, but loads of freebees and the pure honour of being attached to the best Springbok team "Out of Africa" We are loooking at getting Robert Redford as one of our sponsors alongside Meryl Streep.

Hahaha! I need payment more than the freebies (as much as I'm sure I'd enjoy!) at this stage in my life and supporting a young family but maybe I'll be sure to call in ~16 years' time.

I didn't know Montpellier snapped up Immelman as well. Him and Van der Merwe fall squarely into the 'extremely promising back and young but white' category that isn't a highly valued commodity in the current SA rugby climate and wouldn't have a shot here unless they've already 'arrived'. I'm sure they'll serve you well and I trust you'll look better after them than we would've in SA.

To some degree I understand the.. uproar(?) about 'poached/imported' talent from both the French and SA media and fans. Do the press and fans that side put any stock into the fact that these players have French ancestry through the huge influx of French Huguenots?

no not at all, but it will be quite amusing in 2 yrs time when Paul Willemse, Jaques du Plessis, and Wiann Liebenberg are elegible for French selection and they have atleast 2more yrs on their contracts, so it really could happen, at the moment they are being quoted as the 2 best locks in the TOP 14 and when they qualify to play for France i'm sure all the press will start bowing and scraping as per usual. There is absolutely nothing wrong with SA's i love them they are professional, polite, and great to be around i get on very well with them all including Jake, so as far as i'm concerned the more the merrier especially if one day we can get our hands on that Bouclier.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About as good as Bath could get, done some good things with the Crusaders in the last couple of years.

Rennie is one of the best coaches in the world and it would be an absolutely insane coup if he moved to Bath.

Bristol sign Doncaster Centre/Wing Will Hurrell for an undisclosed in contract fee. Real powerhouse at 12 but doesn't kick, or pass often but always gets over the gain line!

Maybe a yard of pace short to be top class but great at championship level.

So some rumours going around
Telegraph
Mermoz - Bath
Le Roux - Wasps

Mirror
Ryan Hall (Rhino RL) - Sale (Although i think he still has 2 years left on his contract)

social media rumours
Volavola - Bath
Will Evans - Saints, Bath, Wasps (From that Insiderugbyline twitter thingy)
Corbs - Wasps

All make sense bar
Le Roux - Wasps
Evans - Saints, Bath, Wasps. Saints are fine for 7 unless Ludlam has had enough? 7 is the one position Bath seems alright with compared to the other areas, Wasps maybe but can't see why he would want to move as he would prob be in the same position just behind Haskell or Young instead of O'Connor.
Corbs - I guess kind of makes sense he would be able to ease back in with Mullan starting but would he be able to over take Mullan?

Bath aren't that alright at 7 tho are they? Lots of back row but not a lot of 7s Louw and Mercer- anyone else?

Guy Mercer doesn't get a huge amount of game time and Evans potential would probably see him benching over him.

I suspect Denton/Garvey would be benching ahead of him

also wouldn't see the benefit for him TBH, Wasps would make sense depending on if they want an out and out 7 or very good 6.5's.

doesn't matter as he is signed up this season and i think next season.

Wasps will play Haskell at 6 and Young at 7 who a great young player. If they don't have a 7 in the academy I can understand them signing him but with Haskell covering 7 I thought they would be looking for a 6/8.

I wouldn't be surprised by Johnson moving back to 6 now that Wasps have Taylor at hook. Which means Haskell 7 and Young on bench.

How long does Young have on his contract?
He might have an eye on a move to Wales in the next couple of seasons, for international aspirations

Will he want to leave his dad though? I wouldn't have thought he'll be going to Wales any time soon for international aspirations with Lyds, Warbs, Tips, Moriarty and Jenkins around at flanker.

Yeah but when Dai takes over after Gatland gets the sack :p

I know there's a long list but if he wants to play for Wales then it'll be on his mind

I can't see any real sense in Evans moving. As it stands, he's only really competing with O'Connor and based upon last season, Tigers have shown enough faith in him to play him in the AP.

Wasps also have Jack Willis as a young, up and coming flanker.

The other rumours are all fairly plausible, but I also don't really get the point of Wasps signing Le Roux? He's a great player when he's on form, but he hasn't been great lately and would be a very expensive luxury when Miller is more than capable and Beale will be due back in October/November.

Olyy has Addison signed a contract extension yet?

Although can't see Tigers going after him unless Thompstone is leaving next season but even then he would have JPP, Betham and Veainu to compete for the starting shirt.
