Not sure if it's been confirmed but it appears that Leinster have signed a second row! Don't know anything about him.....
One of the best moments ever.
One of the best moments ever.
Not sure I'd call it best, but quite an interesting moment anyway. That grey hair he had going on at the time really makes for a double whammy. Still, he was bloody good back then, although Swansea couldn't decide which position to play him in, 10, 12, 15, wing and back again.
That Rheon James is a bloody monster! Duck, don;t forget North in your thigh size comparisions:
Always notice the difference between the size of North's thighs in comparison to Cuthberts. Both are similar builds, but Cuthberts legs look spindly compared to North's.
His name is Quinn Roux
a very talented prospect, many tipped him to be the next Victor Matfield, and before his injury in the beginning of the year, was selected ahead of Eben Etzebeth for the Stormers. Has very good ball skills for a second rower...
Roux is only on a one-year deal, bru.
He will be back with only possibly the slightest hint of an Irish accent.
That's good news at least. I hope both him and Stander both come back to stake their claim. Roux could easily break into the Bokke if he gets regular game time and manages to do on a bigger stage what he has for the Vodacom cup sde. Probably it's my Boer paranoia but that IRU 'project player' thing has me concerned.
In fairness, there has yet to be one 'project player' who has played for the national team. While I have no doubt that Sander and Roux are excellent prospects, we do have a good bit of talent coming through in the back 5, so hopefully they wont go on to represent Ireland.
With regard to Roux, what sort of player is he? Ideally he'd supply a bit of grunt as Devin Toner is fantastic at the line out, but a bit light around the field.
Fair enough. Like I said, it's probably a mixture of my paranoia and seeing a player I saw as a big prospect for my club laeve. Hopefully he'll come back a little bit better off.
Hmm, Roux is very much an all-rounder type of player. I can't say he'd comfortably mix it up with the likes of say Bakkies Botha, Brad Thorn, O'Conell etc but he certainly isn't a lightweight. I see him as more of an athletic type though like say, Lawes from England. He gets round the park and gets through a lot of work in both attack and defense. He'll probably look to offload or keep the ball alive rather than smash someone. He does have amazing ball skills for a lock.
He's been immense in the 2nd tier competition for WP- a star player along with our young loose forwards- and when he came on for the Stormers against the Bulls his pass put Kolisi away for the match winning try.
Sounds workable. It's nice to hear he's got a good offloading game, our game is very much 15 man rugby so everyone is expected to be able to play.
As for him only being on a one year contract, well that could be one of two things. Either he wants to get out and see a bit of the world before having a serious go at getting into the Boks squad or Leinster don't want to overcommit after the Steven Skyes fiasco. Either way, the lad will be expected to work his socks off.
Speaking of Sykes... how would you like a free second row?!
True, nobody brought in under this scheme has played for the national team but quite a few foreign players have ended up playing for the national team. Kurt McQuilkin, Mike Mullins and Andy Ward come to mind immediately while Andrew Farley and Brett Wilkinson have both played for the A team.In fairness, there has yet to be one 'project player' who has played for the national team.
