Wasps have offered him a lot more than Tigers could afford in the budget. (Outside of making him a full blown senior player).

Oh well life goes on, only 17 years old so I can't see Mauger or Cockers pinning quite so much on him being the future. (Unlike Ford).

TBH the whole situation should of been sorted when Wasps first moved, there shouldn't be a sudden change in the academy borders just because a club decides to move on someone else patch.

Should also be a sizeable amount of compensation to the club , until said player turns 20 or is released.

None at all, but it's still ****ty on the clubs there already.
If Wasps moved to the North West and took part of Manchester - hell, it's a big city and there's room for two clubs, but the amount of money and graft we've put in to grassroots in the northwest it'd be a massive kick in the dick to just give part of that to some ***** from down South.

Yeah, I suspect this is it. The academy salary cap is £100,000. Gloucester, for example, has 16 players in their academy, giving an average "salary" of £6,250, which is absurdly low given the average salaries in the Premiership. It probably doesn't work like this in practice. The youngsters probably train on the cheap, and the bulk of that salary goes to the young 20s players. Others probably earn by being loaned out and getting their salary from another team. But it seems to me that if we want to encourage Premiership outfits taking up and training more young players, we ought to be increasing that academy cap. Perhaps a £400k cap, where only players younger than 22 are allowed in the academy?

Oh, apparently the £100k cap only applies to players that move between clubs. nvm.

The boundaries were up for negotiation anyway.

Maybe they'll push Sarries' boundaries south, give some to Saints, then allow Wasps in on Saints' patch... but, still, doesn't change the fact that the places on Wasps' door step that they'll want is where Wuss have been chucking down money. Someone will be unhappy and tbh, English rugby won't be the winner.

Absolutely, but equally - you aren't going to have parents travelling up to the Midlands from West London 2,3,4 times a week when they could just go down the road.

Regional centres would keep the sting out of it for most of the time - but sooner or later, they need to be near the senior team training ground.

The West Country manages okay despite sharing a much smaller population.

The West Country manages okay despite sharing a much smaller population.

But there's only one academy in the West Country.
Chiefs cover the south coast and Bath's is based out of Reading.

Isn't everyone related to each other in the west country? makes it alot easier to communicate and people tend to stick with the family club.

and Bath are the posh west country club and therefore do not dirty they waters with those kind.
