Transfers 2015/16

True, I thought Herbst would have been complete end of this season, but he's another 12 months to run.

I suppose they gave dispensation as 2 of those are going to be IQ in a year.

Yea. I honestly don't know the full inside on it. Like just around Ludik I'd wonder was it vital (from IRFU) POV to keep him. Like back 3 players are plentiful around all provinces.

Word on the UAFC is that D4 felt a little cold around the full-back stocks after Felix Jones had to retire and that Ludik's been kept as an emergency option. That the current Irish centres are both better at full-back is something that has escaped them and therefore presumably will continue to do so.

No idea if this is right btw - but at the same time, they must see a need for him, they can't be being nice to him for the hell of it.

Well in my eyes Payne is a country mile clear as best 15. But yea I think IRFU see them as centres so we must live with it. Although when Aki is IQ next year will 1 move or will Payne have gone too old.

But Leinster have a few 15s. I think Zebo is a 15 and Conway too. Like I don't think Ludik will make Irish team better. But I accept that their line of thinking is fair just was it worth breaking rules for.

If McCloskey can't crack the Ireland team on this form, Aki would be well advised to consider Samoa after all... this is where being an ersatz Ulster fan comes in handy, far less of a problem for me if Nucifecks and Schmidt are hellbent on the wrong way!

I wouldn't have changed the rules for Ludik. I like him as a player a lot, but not that much. I'd change the rules in general mind, but that's not the point.

Sorry should've been clearer. My mind was along lines we need 3 or 4 centres at all times. Basically guys they won't play anywhere else.
McCloskey and Marshall should get a go on form. Now McCloskey and Henshaw should be starting with Payne at 15.

Does Henshaw play 13 at all ?

If he is going to Leinster, that's a poor decision from the IRFU. Ben Te'o is leaving at the end of the season and Ringrose, Henshaw and Fitzgerald will all be away on Ireland duty during the autumn and 6N next season (or Fitz being out with injury). Reid is our only centre with more than 30 caps left and is a very good in attack for Pro 12 standard and abysmal in defence for Pro 12 standard. Daly is the only other viable option coming in through the academy. This means we're going to be stuck with a Reid - McFadden partnership for a lot of next season, provided McFadden doesn't retire, move club or get injured. We definitely need a solid NIQ player to come in.
Then again, I can't wait to see a backline of:
9. McGrath
10. Sexton
11. Fitzgerald
12. Henshaw
13. Ringrose
14. Kearney
15. Kearney

or

9. McGrath
10. Sexton
11. Kirchner
12. Fitzgerald
13. Ringrose
14. Kearney
15. Henshaw

Still won't get selected for England....don't want to play Wasps during the 6 nations next year mind.
