Transfers 2015/16

Glad Horne didn't want to come. No point in slotting another guy whose best position is elsewhere into the centre. We need a specialist centre more than anything. Wing is easily his stronger spot

He turned us down though. Was offered â'¬250k per year. But 2 other targets still in contention both of whom WILL be at RWC and are good.

Care to shed light on those two in the rumours thread? :p. Yeah I know he turned us down, but I won't complain. I may be completely wrong but I was under the impression his stock has gone up a lot since his wing move.

I think Horne never really fulfilled his potential in the centre, particularly 13, for my money hes a better wing or 12. Not the out and out speedster or finisher but a very useful, strong, hard working wing.

Nope we tried to hang on to him but they wanted him back. He wanted to stay too but understanding is we will sign him if we don't get our NIQ centre (3 targets in talks). Pat has family here and was loved by all of us and certainly mixed in well as well as being a good asset on field.

My understanding is Howard wants back to Munster as well. Generally, WP and the Stormers are very accommodating but he will be needed here this season as depth cover in the center/wing as we are thin there;

- Jean de Villiers is thought to be out for the entire SR season.
- It's not easy replacing the likes of Habana, Jaque Fourie and Gio Aplon quickly all who we've lost in the last 2 seasons.
- We have good youngsters in Senatla and Kolbe but Senatla is with the Bok 7's squad firstly and we'll be without him for 3/4 of the regular season. Even then both are quite young and somewhat untested even if oozing with promise.
- Jaco Taute, our 1st choice utility player is injured again and though he should be back in 6 weeks his track record with injuries require that you not count him when looking at squad depth.

So that essentially leaves us with only Damian de Allende and Juan de Jongh from 11 to 15 as players with SR experience, De Allende only having 1 season behind him... not a very pleasant place to be despite Kobus van Wyk and Cheslin Kolbe looking very classy in lower tiers of competition. I'm sure you can appreciate we need Howard even if he hasn't really featured for us yet behind JdV, JdJ and DdA as one of De Allende or Howard will probably play on the wing for us f we can't find a timely specialist winger before the competition starts. Either one of them or one of our u/21 fulbacks.

At Groundhog I won't say names but they are 2 very good players and Stormer yes Pat wants to come back and we want him back. We are trying to see on NIQ quota which is up in air and if our other targets come. We may get an international class forward and sign Pat. In my view he is as good as many international centres and with a right backs coach we could have a magical back line of talent. But yeah WP wanted him back as I said we did try hard to keep him for season. I think we want him fast as he is going to be on radar of a lot more teams soon. Also his father works in Letterkenny and he has family in Clare.

Tom price (Leicester) ----> Scarlets.

England U20 who is also Welsh Qualified.

Being a Lock in England will be very hard ATM.

On the basis of having almost no young second rows, I have to say it sounds like a good signing.

Edit. 6'8", welcome Mr Price!

Turk second rows: Ball, Snyman, Earle, Kelly. Ball is away much of the season with Wales, so certainly a place for Tom. Snyman and Earle become WQ this year as well, I believe (signed prior to 2012/13 season), and I could see Adriaanse leaving, so wonder if the Scarlets will be after any NWQ players.

BTW, please post a link for this. Only official transfers that have been confirmed, all other go in rumours. Thanks!

Yeah. Hard to blame guys for looking at the logjam and thinking better of it.

Yeah, it's not exactly earth shattering that he's moving on.
Was signed as a squad player and now academy guys are getting to the stage where they can fill that role.

Max Lahiff: Rebels --> Bath

Immediate.

I had heard that he's been with us for a couple of months already, he's playing against Quins tomorrow!

....interesting.
He was gash in the scrum for Not Nots, I'm not sure if playing in Australia will have improved that much.
Was always a unit, though, and great around the field.

I'm pretty sure he will be Catt's injury cover, as Nathan is out for the season AFAIK.
And next season James will be off.

So next season Bath will have 6 props, two of which are academy products, and 4 of them 25 or under - how unreasonable. :lol:
