Still sticking with my prediction of 4th place, though

4th is a good result for this side, to be honest - probably shouldn't have made it past the USA

Scrapping 7s programs and offloading the costs to the Olympic committee was a deathblow for 7s in the UK I think - you're not going to attract the best guys, they'll just focus on XVs now, and the real specialists we've still got are getting too old for the sport

It seems like the UK is rolling with union XVs for now, I have heard League is unhealthy there too.
But hey! Premiership 7s is still happening though, so there may be still development.
and its not like focusing on XVs is terrible, I would give up all 7s wins to get into the knockouts of a WC.

League and AFL are much more popular in terms of participation and growth apparently. Im surprised you haven't heard of this, whether Union is dying or not in Australia is a very controversial subject. Apparently, a lot of people see Union as a bourgeoisie sport there whereas League is the "working man's sport".

Oh, no i was meaning players get more money in fifteens compared to sevens, not compared to league. The top New zealanders get more money in league than they do playing for the all blacks too (though its similar), but not nearly as much as playing union in england or france.
