Third Test: Australia v British and Irish Lions (06/07/13)

Hopefully the bench will tip things towards us instead.

The problem is that Gatland hasn't emptied his bench really in either test other than when his hand was forced (i.e. front row, Warburton injury, etc). I really doubt he'll cycle the the bench a la Lancaster.

Pity SHers need that video to show how good BOD was.

Best centre ever - nearest competition was Umaga. And we know how that ended. Still shameful.

I think it's a bad mistake to drop him. He's clearly the captain, no matter what the selectors think - same thing goes for Ireland when Heaslip took over. Without his defence the opposition attack will crack Davies at will. At this stage BOD is a minimalist in attack - he only wants the ball when he knows he can make the difference, otherwise he's just directing the operation across the pitch.

Overall the Lions needed to set up for attack, but they've gone for grunt. It may win, but if O'Connor gets on with AAC there will be several tries for the home team.

Completely agree. Would it be fair to say that BOD has been the Lions defensive captain since 2001 much like how Brad Barritt is for England?

Must not feed troll... bugger it.

Interesting you chose 2005. Since then Wales have placed, on average, 3.25. England... 2.88. Boom and Bust versus constant mediocrity.

If one looks at it from the start of the Six Nations, in 2000, (I wonder why you didn't...) England placed, on average, 2.61. Wales 3.77.

Four wins and one Grand Slam to England; three and three to Wales and one Wooden Spoon. England - two RWC finals, one win. Wales - one semi-final.

Gatland win ratio- 50%. Lancaster - 63%, Johnson 55%, Ashton 54% [England Coaches simultaneous with Gatland]

Since 2005 Wales have beaten Australia twice and not beaten the All Blacks or Springboks. England four, one, and one win(s) respectively.

Since 2000: Wales- 2, 0, 0. England 9, 3, 6.

Yes, I had nothing better to do. Oh, and good luck to the Lions tomorrow.

Why are we looking back past 2012 ???????? It's the Lions 2013 anything pre 2013 is irrelevant !!!!!!!

EXACTLY! Thats why I think it should have been ten Englishmen in the starting line up precisely because they beat Scotland so convincingly!!!! :D

Might be on to something here, after all, who was the last northern hemisphere national side to win in Oz?

Scrap that, should have just fielded 15 Scotsmen!

When things are looking good everyones friends when things get tough we all revert to type....I blame the Welsh its because of them we had a hope of winning this Lions series and that got me all excited.

Not quite sure what this is trying to prove?

He said Wales gave him hope of a series win. I picked a side which would stand as much chance of a series win as anything we have seen thus far including no Welshmen.

That or I was just bored

Wales have been more successful than England in recent times though. 3 six nations ***les (2 of them grand slams) and semi final place in WC , from 2005-13. England on the other hand have only claimed one six nations ***le since the end of 2003.
Love how you conveniently ignored that, y'know, we got to a World Cup final between 05-13.

I'm gonna be gutted when this games done, because the absence of this thread will leave a hole in my heart that nothing will be able to fill.

I hope you're looking forwards to the 2017 Lions squad discussion/prediction thread as much as I am. We should get that ball rolling Sunday.

I heard POC is nailed on captain :D
Sorry he's already booked - The Munster U.8's have a serious game for 4 of those weekend and we don't release him to mediocre things. Only hope you have is if ye bring whole thing to Thomond Park :p

Oh yeah sorry, my mistake. I forgot about that final, probably because it was the dullest game I've ever seen. Punt after punt after punt after punt. Put I suppose England are used to being involved in dull matches eh? :p

As for this thread, I'm sure I could tell everyone I was a Welsh supremacist and most on here would take me seriously!

Goodnight.

How are the grapes?
Are they...sour?

Can we all agree that Gatland is a sinister albino badger, who looks like he smells of salty tears and evil. Honestly, if he came to Ireland, he'd have to answer charges of Deicide. Catholicism has recieved a huge hit in Ireland since O'Driscoll started playing.

Always wanted to use this but
WAHEY Kettle Pot Black.

People here give out about Wales gameplan been dire. Think it was Draggs who said difference is Wales are used to this awful tactic and we just grumpy because we putting up with tactic now as Welsh are used to it. Yet you say it's entertaining. :D So good I suppose it looks bad and doesn't do beating. SH teams

I love how Tuilagi and BOD are basically best mates.
Every training session they're always larking about.
Bromance.
