The Ukraine War thread

America looking a bit daft at the minute. Why did they think Russia would just agree?

Art of the deal
Because Putin respects Trump - whereas he doesn't respect Biden or Obama.
Basically, the same reason he expected Ukraine to just agree to the first suggestion of "everything Putin wants, nothing that Zelenskyy wants" - Trump's ego.

I assume we now all expect Trump and Vance to double team rage and bully on Putin in front of the world's press, and demanding a grovelling apology?

I posted this in the political thread as well.

This article points out how the US have essentially disabled weapons sent to Ukraine by stopping intel data. This has basically cut off the use of the HIMARS rocket system, a crucial piece of the Ukrainian armoury.

I thought the intel data was back on?

So Putin may stop long range strikes as long as military aid and intelligence to Ukraine is cut.....art of the deal

HUGE difference between advocating for money spent versus people being sent into violent conflict as far as willingness to risk personal safety/comfort. Also do you think that the UK would support mass mobilization or is that something that would be political suicide for any politician that suggested it?
Sorry to bring this all up again but just wanted to say on the bold bit, they're soldiers bro. They're in the army. You choose to sign up for that **** and it's not like you do thinking oh yeah, no chance I see any action. I bet there's a good chunck of our small armed forces that are probably well up for it.

You're talking like sending some random people over against their will or something. We, like most countries, have a military and citizens of said country can have a view on whether that military should be used. No one is holding a gun to people's heads making them join the military, it is optional.

From Putin - the complete cessation of foreign military aid and sharing intelligence with Kyiv".

Is this meant to be US specific or Europe as well. I'm assuming everyone. Not sure how or if America can prevent people supplying aid idk.

America stopped intelligence sharing and everyone else had to follow suit because America have positioned themselves where they are in control of all the intelligence. So UK intelligence knew some stuff but couldn't share it.

Yeah I know we had the bright idea of passing on a lot of sources and assets for the US to handle. One thing back to bite us, hindsight and all that.

It was more about the military aid really. The Ukraine will be in a terrible position if the US well and truly pull aid / the plug.

But i read Putin's statement as everyone. Not sure how easy the US can or will force everyone to pull aid, sanctions etc.

So cut all aid and intelligence allowing Russia to rebuild and prepare whilst Ukraine can't, and then strike again entirely on their terms to finish the job... It's so transparent.

Unfortunately the two go hand in hand. Without the intelligence the HIMARS don't launch on targets, the F-16s don't have a top down view etc etc so you can have weapons but they mostly become things you have to hide from the enemy. Also it's worth noting that when the North Koreans attacked in Kursk they knew exactly where to hit the Ukrainians. Months had gone past with little to no movement then all of sudden big gains. It's almost like someone told them were to attack....who's head of US intelligence again?
