The Ukraine War thread

Think what you want, and continue to beg Americans to stay with you. Again that's your right to die. Thankfully most of Poles are adequate
So you don't see Russia as a threat to Poland? Genuine question I'm not being an arse

Not at the nearest time (war in Ukraine/5-8 after the war). And Putin is already old enough thankfully (so don't really see any threat during Putin times)
Plus, I know the mood of ordinary people in Russia. You can't start the war with a Nato country without a support from most of your population (and there's no such a support from most of Russians) if there's no a direct threat from this country, obviously

Ok but isn't the current narrative in Russia that it's already at war with NATO?

Putin maybe mumbled something about war with Nato, but noone takes it seriously.
Not sure if I want even to think about potential Polish-Russian war, too scary and painful to think about it and a huge moral dilemma for me. I'm already depressed and broken enough with the war in Ukraine.
Again, thankfully Putin is old, and I doubt that other oligarchy wants a war with Europe

One thing is for sure - the next Ryder cup is going to be spicy. Can imagine the Polish ultras rocking up even if they don't have a player involved.

New York so I'm unsure if American's can more obnoxious in a home cup.

@Leonormous Boozer ?
It'll be peak "USA USA USA" and player abuse, Boston is probably the only place that can rival it in that regard. Even more spice added after the treatment some of theirs got in Rome and Keegan Bradley, who claims home court whenever he's a driveable distance from Boston, as captain.

Got a taste of it In the US Open last year with the crowd massively supporting Trump's friend Bryson over Rory (fortunately Rory is a different animal in Ryder Cups than down the stretch in a major). Rory regularly would have at least matched any home country facourite before that in terms of popularity.

The Europeans have been dominating the PGA so far this year, winning every signature event so hopefully that carries on.

6 months is a lifetime away in bot golf and Trump politics though.

Thanks Yulia. Appreciate the perspective

Isn't Rory a pal of Trump's?

He wasn't last year and previously stated he'd never play with him again.

He went back on that this year and stated that he used the round as a way to discuss how to merge LIV and the PGA.

I don't think he should have gone near him but for such an outspoken person Rory can be swayed by pressure quite easily.

I'm still a fan though.

Considering UK/France/etc military potential (including nuclear one), you don't have a capability to stop Putin without the USA and the USA doesn't want to trigger WW3. Otherwise your troops would have been already there
That's not a serious conversation
Most of us here are Armchair force/sofa troops, but noone really wants to die in reality
Considering Russia has been struggling to even beat Ukraine, who have even less military capability than France or Britain, and are already having to get convicts to the front lines with Iranian and North Korean support, I think we definitely could do enough to kick them out of Ukraine.

Not that I would want a war, but yeah. All that "muscle" Russia pride themselves on has been shown up for what it really is in all this.

.Preghozin showed how easy it was after he went rogue. The Russian army were totally helpless and couldn't even stop him and his men as they headed to Moscow. Putin would have been toppled years ago if he didn't have nukes.

Going to disagree with that. Ukraine currently has the best land army in Europe but does lack the air and sea power of Britain and France combined

Maybe now in terms of combat experience but in terms of equipment, it still lacks. They are being beaten by Russia due to equipment and manpower shortages. France and Britain could provide enough of both to tip the scales, they certainly outclass large chunks of what Russia is using.

Britain and France don't need to defeat Russia alone, they just need to give Ukraine the boost it needs to push them out.

If other EU nations contributed, even small amounts, it could remove Russia's key advantages.

Nah, he stopped well short of any actual defences around Moscow - he basically started behind Russia's defensive lines, drove through some empty countryside for a bit, before pulling into a lay-by.
I'm sure he caused some shockwaves, but shit never got real

Well, then I invite you both to Ukraine and Russia, you definitely know everything better than your military and can kick everyone out everywhere. Why should French and British soldiers go somewhere if they have Rambo Erasmus and the whole General (!) Melchett

They are not being beaten by Russia. Russia is actually retreating in easten Donbass and Kursk they are completely exhausted and facing increasing Ukrainian counter attacks but I agree the addition of France and the UK would push things along.

Always bare in mind that Russia could have been defeated in 2022 but the Biden admin were scared of Russia using a tactical nuke so they were allowed to withdraw from Kherson.
