The Movie Thread

Not surprised that Joker 2 crashed and burned at the box office. The first one was very good but not one to re-watch. It's already on Amazon to watch for a price.
is it actually a musical? i saw they said that originally and then not much mention of it so thought it might just have a musically number....but now im seeing reviews suggesting its is a musical

November 22nd release date. Hope it's good. The original was excellent, IMHO.

Yeah it's a musical but not original songs just musical numbers if old songs. But it's fine movie that kinda fails in the last 20 minuites. But I'm pretty down on these movies I don't like the Joker being humanised and Gotham being just New York feels wrong.

I've heard weird suggestions the movie makers have tried to say it's not but it was clear from the trailers...

It's way down my list of films for this year but there's tons of brilliant ones but it isn't deserving of any hate.

Paddington in Peru. It was alright. No real lol moments like in the first two. I'd give it 6/10.

Still coming to terms with the most average looking Irish man being one of the coolest people on the planet but looking forward to this.

Going to treat it as its own standalone film though. A sequel after 25 years is kind of everything I hate about Hollywood right now.

I'm hoping that whats hinted at in trailers about Mescal's lineage is just elaborate cutting as it completely undermines Maximums' character and motives in the first.

Apparently it's true. I had to refresh my memory because it wasn't at all apparent from the first film.

The first implies his father just died a while back and whilst Maximus/Lucilla may have had a relationship once Maximus is a dedicated father and husband who is awaiting to meet them in the afterlife.

Lucius is just there for something to worry about for Lucilla because of Commodus incestuious desires.

I agree, from a narrative POV it makes little sense.

Don't know why he's cut and bleeding. Guess we'll find out next year.

Going to be watching The Substance as the evening family Christmas movie, I hear good things. Anyone here seen it and can do a spoiler-free overview? I do enjoy old school Cronenberg and I hear the movie has a strong message so should be a good fit?

Very good film, even if I felt it did drag a bit at the end. Don't know about your family dynamics but I would absolutely not watch it with mine.

It's like my 2nd favourite film of the year (out of 33 new films Ive seen in the cinema). Would only watch it with the wife though it's extremely sexually provocative with tons of gore.

Agree with Big Ginger the last act is wonderfully gore tastic but after the initial shock it just goes on a bit.

Looks very James Gunn. A little dark then Krypto shows up. That's me sold it's got a dog in it.

I loved Rocket and Cosmo in Guardians 3.

I wouldn't call the Substance sexually provocative (there are some weird scenes but they made me laugh,as it was exaggerated to the absurd level), but wouldn't watch it with family either. Was a bit shocked in the end, but liked it in general. Definitely worth watching one time.

Tortured For Christ - based on the true life story of Richard Wurmbrand a Romanian Pastor who was imprisoned and beaten repetitively in communist Russia for 14 years. And his wife Sabina was forced to work in a prison labor camp for 3 years because of their Christian teachings under the Joseph Stalin regime.

Here's the entire movie for free. It's great. 👏
