The Movie Thread

It's my biggest movie watching week, probably of all time, at the moment.

Went to The Jungle Book on Saturday night. Really enjoyed it - the CGI animals were pretty good, would definitely recommend if you're a fan of the original.

Saw The Witch on Sunday night as part of the NZ Film Festival. For fans of horror movies this is a must see. It's very eerie - not jump scary, but a great atmosphere. The score is horrifying too.

Off to Zootopia tonight, looking forward to it. And then this Saturday it's time for Civil War - probably my most anticipated film in a long time. Looking forward to this more than I looked forward to Age of Ultron.

I went to see Zootopia the other day and loved it.
I'm a sucker for Pixar/Dreamworks movies and it was the best one I've seen in a good few years

I've heard only good things about it, so have reasonably high hopes. To be honest when I first saw the poster/characters I wasn't very interested, I probably wouldn't be seeing it all if it weren't for all the good recommendations I've heard. I'm actually yet to see a trailer for the film so that quite possibly would have convinced me to see it regardless!

I watched Civil War this past weekend. Honestly I came out of it a bit disappointed. Spiderman and Black Panther were great additions to the roster and the action scenes and witty comments were great as usual. I was just very frustrated with the storyline and that was what lingered with me as I left the cinema. Both sides just continued making stupid decisions which didn't make sense using their arguments (or sometime lack of arguments) as to why they were doing what they were doing. It just felt like quite a bit of it was forced to make big battle scenes with superheroes.

It's not a bad movie by all means, but I would probably give it something between a 6 or 7 out of ten.

Finally got round to watching Pixels. I really enjoyed it, liked the goofly comedy in it, liked the style and colour to it. Didnt even mind Adam Sandler that much.

Grosse Pointe Blank is on at the moment. It's a 'must see' movie if you've never seen it. Easily makes my 'top 5'.

Rewatching Starship Troopers for the first time in probably over a decade.

Absolute classic. Perfectly cheesy, great action, great film.

Must've watched it 50 times when I was younger (it was the first DVD we owned, along with A Bugs Life and Casino, when we first got a DVD player, so it was on regular rotation).

Did you know there was a book by the same ***le? From what I could see there was no relation to the movie though.

Read it a couple of months ago.
But the movie obviously is mocking the fascist views of Heinlein.

i have never hated a film without seeing it as much as i have done with the new ghostbusters film.

1) Can't stand Feig
2) Can't stand McCarthy
3) What is the point?
4) Crap Trailers, Crap Graphics by the looks of it, Crap jokes,

And now the worse thing of all:

But
I like Hemsowrth
and i love Wiig
