It's been a while since coming on here (for various reasons) but its nice to see and read all the love for Deadpool on here.

Being a full time DC Comics fan boy I am very prone to being extremely cynical on Marvel properties (because I feel its my job to be) but my was this a hoot.

Was great to have a refreshing take on the comicbook movie sub genre. Agree with the comments regarding its standard story but its execution was brilliant.

Gags were great, and the action was exciting and refreshing despite the films modest budget ($60 odd million dollars is quite "reserved" for an action film).

You could really tell that the film was a real labour of love from all involved.

Now the countdown to March 25th has began for me. I haven't read anyones views or comments on BvS, but I can only assume that it is dividing people. I for one cannot wait to embrace the Batfleck!!!

Quite excited about BVS

Irons Alfred is who I'm most excited to see (Irons has a GOAT voice) and should give it a different direction to Caine's.

I'm sold on Batfleck, but not Eisenberg and Cavill.

My problem for me isn't the cast in BvS - it's that I feel the trailers have already given a crap load away, and it simply looks ridiculously packed and convoluted. Batman v Superman v Lex Luthor v Darkseid (who was General Zod) featuring a lazily worked in Wonder Women and maybe...Aqua Man?

I actually like all the casting choices (barring maybe Eisenberg as Luthor). I have said I m a fan of Ben Affleck for Batman from the start. But I'd have much rather see it launched from his own movie (although I am happy skipping an origin story tbh). Of course this all said, I will go and see it. But the trailers makes me feel they just have thrown too much in - and revealed it all anyways.

As TVH11 rightly pointed out - the reason why Deadpool is so good as a movie is because the whole production seemed to be built around people who just got it. Seeing Batman with some kind of machine gun facing up with Wonder Women and Superman vs Darkseid makes me think Snyder doesn't have the same Kevin Conroy voiced Batman in his head that I have grown up loving.

Tis Doomsday not Darkseid although there are parademons in one sequence so I suspect that's for the Justice League film. Doomsday kin of makes sense they need something suitably dangerous to get them team up after duking it out.

Apparently he first cut was 3 hours I'm not sure how coherent the film the film will be with major cuts.

Still I'm excited Batman is by far and away my favourite superhero. Batfleck isnt an issue anyone who thinks so us remembering films from nearly a decade ago and hasn't watched his more recent films.

The final trailer was the best.

TBH I'm so excited about a solo Batman film though.

Suicide Squad looks great, doesn't look like the Robbie Smith only film I thought it would be. Although I'm not a fan of Jokers look I'm still happy.

I agree with all the points made. Whilst my personal (non online) views are extremely biased due to my allegiances and fandom to the characters featured in BvS, I worry about the potential weight of the film - the fact that ncurd mentioned first cut was 3 hours long is slightly worrying for the mass market. As most have mentioned, Deadpool was fun filled and action packed and had a very quick pace and relatively small running time which has positively affected its opening weekend box office and fan response (some critics on the other hand haven't been so kind, but critics are just jealous failed film makers right?).

Snyder loves his epics, and so do I . For me, Man of Steel was a near 3 hour spectacle that re-imagined the cinematic ideology of Supes (and is the sole reason for me getting into the source material). Despite my opinion, I realise that for some (cough... most) it was a little lifeless, joyless and the fight scenes went on and it all felt a little disaster porny.

After watching the final trailer and seeing a brute force Batman with gadgets squaring up against a Superman that I like, I am a little disappointed that the Doomsday reveal wasn't kept until the film. Despite being one of the worst kept secrets surrounding the film (and to the general audience its just a big grey nasty monster) it would have been amazing to receive that shock moment in the theatre.

I think Wonder Woman is potentially the films secret weapon, despite how potentially small her role may be (I'm figuring she isn't revealed until final 30 minutes or so).

Even writing and reading the above is a weighty task, so when one considers all the potentially additional parts (JL members popping up, Darkseid's Omega symbol during the "Knightmare Batman" scenes, Lex Luthor manipulating stuff) its weighty. I wouldn't be surprised if it clocks up near 3 hours.


I will go & enjoy it, defend it till the cows come home but I think the mass audience and critics may boycot it. I can't wait to hear and read the thoughts of critics such as Mark Kermode - they can be rather acid tonguey!!

Also on the Dc vs Marvel debate.... On past achievements, I believe Cap 3 will be received more kindly by the general public and critics (pains me to say :cryy:

Well I've committed myself to 2 Imax screenings of BvS on opening weekend so in 3 weeks time I'll be saying that I've just seen that for the first time.
Midnight screening on 25th so technically only 20 more sleeps

I've seen a few thing ranging from middling to great. None complaining about the depictions of Batman unless you hate grimdark versions of the character.

I'll wait to judge on Monday when I see It (stupid bloody Easter) but there's a huge amount of people making their minds up beforehand from what I can see so far.

I guess it depends on how much they angle why he has become what he is but still.

Hoping Irons gets a good chunk of film.

Reviews on it are meh, but I don't tend to follow reviews to much, seeing it on Next week Wednesday.

Side note I really want Netflix to do a Red Son series.

Hmm not read that he's used plenty non-lethal firearms in the past although I do agree using them is a push. If he's using guns to kill then that's pushing it too far.

Seeing BvS midnight screening tomorrow.

Only been reading/watching spoiler free reviews on it.

Im generally easily pleased, and the avenues I trust for reviews on these "niche" films have lifted me from my downer of all the negative press.

The reviews Ive read have been so strange. They praise most aspects of the film, say its visually beautiful but then S!!t on it in closing comments and overall score. I knew it would get negativity but its press has been level with the newest FF remake! Never thought I'd see a movie more divisive than Man of Steel but it seems that MoS has met its match in that department.

Im a Dc Fanboy so I believe I will at least like it....

Going to see BvS on Sunday for a friends birthday but I'm really not looking forward to it.
Don't mind batman (but don't get the love in) but really hate superman. Such a lazy character.
It's like 2 and a half hours as well, which is going to ****e.

Im a DC fanboy but am worried abit about this film.

CA:CW will have more mass appeal, and SS will prob have the GOTG, type they aren't heroes but look they are doing hero stuff fans, also Quinn has a lot of fanboys.

Saw it, not a huge comic book fan admittedly but it came across as a long prologue for the justice league which is boring for the most part, diluting all of it's characters' personalities. Similar to the Star Wars prequels in a way.

Enjoyed Batman vs Superman way more than I expected but it was just decent, nothing more.
Justice League stuff was really tacked on - thought showing the logos was cool, but when he started opening files I was like....come on.



Decent film, though. Definitely worth a watch.
