The Movie Thread

Matilda - The Musical is very British centric and I enjoyed it.
Yeh need to finish that on Netflix. Although I did like Danny de Vito as Mr Wormwood in the first version of that and Pam Ferris was absolutely superb as the disgusting Miss Trunchbull.

Have been to Grasse a week ago and can't stop thinking of "Perfume: the Story of a Murderer" after it. I'm all into the movie and the book all this time. Although, watched/read it a lot of times many years ago (and it's in the list of my favourite movies and books). Everything is absolutely perfect in the movie: soundtrack, colours, camera work...an aesthetic orgasm,in a couple of words. I like Tom Tykwer in general, but it's literally his top. His masterpiece.

Which was average height at the time,
The short thing was started by British newspaper cartoonists depicting him as an angry child

So I'm below average height for the late 1700s and early 1800s.

God that's depressing.

Either way the trailor looks good.

Imagine a Julius Caesar equivalent movie. Incredible potential.

Unfortunately, it's looking a bit **** so far - shame, as it's comfortably Cornwell's best work (IMO)

Oh dear, that doesn't look great but I'll still give it a go I suppose. I don't see Tom Jones, Anthony Hopkins or AWJ. Not many Welsh at all by the looks of it. That's where they've gone wrong, clearly.

agreed...and not just because he didn't drag it out to 7-8 novels

one of the few series ive read more the once, love them....but that just doesn't vibe for me...like other than the name arthur im not sure what happening...didn't look like there was anything to differentiate from vikings, last kingdom etc

Hope against hope that it's just a shot trailer.

If they're going to ignore the Cornwell books and just do a generic Arthurian tail, then why pay for the Cornwell books, when the mythology is... ever so silghtly beyond copyright

maybe literally so they can call it the "winter king" and associate Cornwells name...so people go and watch

Its my argument for when they do things like Indie 4 and 5....if the story was good enough it doesn't need to be indiana jones....but that ***le will get more people through the door

But surely, "The Watch" already showed that it's a bulshit theory if the product is still bad

If it's not told from a view point of an old monk witnessing the Arthurian saga I'm out. The press stuff seems to say it will be, not convinced by that trailer. Or as a 10 part series for ITV X.
