The impact a Rugby World Cup has on society

Hello Jordan

I think the RWC gave New Zealand as a country more publicity rather than the All Blacks as a team.
I also think more publicity came from the news coverage by foreign media as well as the broadcasting
of games to an overseas audience.

Hopefully that was a sufficient reply.

Hi Canadafan! it is really good to hear that rugby is starting to grow in Canada it is a trilling sport and really intense. Do you think with the growth of rugby, it will affect the society in Canada? how much progress has the team achieved so far, do you think by the next rugby world cup Canada will be able to perform to it's climax?

The 2011 RWC has encourage rugby all over the world. What atmosphere will the 2015 RWC in England have on the world.

Hi everyone

The 2011 rugby world cup held in New Zealand had a huge influence in me personally but also for all the Kiwi's as we won it. We have won the cup twice along with Australia and South Africa. It is a huge achievement for us as a small country having a population of just over 4.5 million people. However it did affect me and other school because the school terms were disrupted which therefore could have resulted in less education.

It would be great if anyone has any thoughts about the rugby world cup.....

Thanks

for me the rugby world cup did not really intrest me but yet it was still great to see the all blacks have a win! it impacted our society greatly with winning the world cup but also gaining a huge income from all the visiting tourist

Kia ora Jake-heke

The RWC didn't quite interest me either but yet it was great to see the AB's come out with the Victory, backed with the fact that they hosted so it did set a good example. However, your understanding of how it impacted society isn't relevant and doesn't give much info on the whole topic.

Please elaborate on the idea. I mean, how did it really impact Society m8?

Chur cuz (blakeeyC)

I strongly agree with your point of view as the RWC did end up making a strong bond with distant friends and family, because this also happened to me.

I was just wondering how much of an excitement trend it was to view a couple of the RWC games with these people and if you also felt the energy with fans around you building up? ......... ConverterCrosby reply??? please??..... na chh

Hi Shivneel,

you say that the term lengths were affected, so does that necesarily mean that less education was obtained? and if yes why do you think that???

cheers..

Thank you for your Input Josiah,
I also wasn't affected much by the Rwc and can fully see where you are coming from. Although in wasn't interested it was still a good time getting together with friends/family and watching the games.

Hi everyone,

The Rugby World Cup did not have a large impact on me.

The impact it did have on me was that I watched a couple of games on Television with my family.
The Rugby World Cup did not influence my attitude towards Rugby. I enjoyed watching the games I did.

Hello SandyPineapple

Im sure that the RWC2011 would have effected you because we won the world cup and you would have been proud of our country.

So do you think that we did a good job?

How the RWC effected me and others.

To be honest the 2011 RWC had quite an impact on me personally, it made me realise that Rugby is more like a tradition to some. Also it effected my friends and the people around me, the banter that circulated within my school was crazy! It brought together the community, settled arguments and is still a topic of conversation as we speak.

Did the RWC impact your view on other peoples passion for the sport?

This post is irrelevant to the World cup sir.

Could you please justify your relevance to the RWC 2011?

Hi Shivneel

I agree that the RWC did have a huge influence on kiwis and the after party's showed that by celebrating the streets of Auckland and New Zealand as a whole. But for me I thought that it was a good thing that the school terms were shortened because it was the first time NZ held the world cup after 7 Rugby world cups and it gave NZ the advantage of winning the cup back after 24 years. But I personally did not take much notice as I did just as well that year in education as the rest.

Hi Curtis

Yes due to the term length being affected, it would have hugely affected the teachers as they had to plan our classes according to how many weeks they have to complete a particular standard. This could mean that less time will be spent on a standard which would obviously mean that there is less time to prepare yourself fully if you want to pass and if you don't, then that means less education will be attained.

Hi everyone,

The Rugby World Cup was a major victory for New Zealand, both economically and also for our national team and the nation.

Firstly, the Rugby World Cup created a major buzz throughout New Zealand and also the smaller communities such as Gisborne who hosted a national team.

We took this opportunity to display our proud Maori culture from the opening ceremony right throughout till the end.

The tournament was also significant for many players from the smaller nations including Canada, Japan, Romania etc, as they were recognised by franchises such as ones from the Super 15, Heineken Cup and other major competitions and earned contracts.

The Rugby World Cup was significant for us as a nation because we seek our identity through our pride in our national team and having won the final 8-7 against the unpredictable French was fitting as we beat them in the 1987 final to win the Word Cup.

And finally, economically, it boosted New Zealand's tourism industry tremendously as the World Cup attracted thousands of supporters for every nation.

I personally enjoyed it, as some games provided great and unexpected results, such as Ireland beating Australia in pool play. It was an amazing experience.

Its a special event so the dedicated fan get more dedicated and obsessed and it makes the casual fan excited too. I suppose it helps if the team where you live does well.

It works for other sports too, I'm not a Tennis fan but couldn't help getting excited and involved when Andy Murray won Wimbledon.

I said it numerous times and eveyone laughed at me well, ha everyone. I took a while to get around to this...

Yeah, but we laughed at you whatever the subject matter back in those days. Golden times.
