The Super Rugby format is a ridiculously stupid format and should mirror the Champions Cup format. Pools followed by knock out stages would suit best in my opinion.
According to the Super Rugby webpage the new (2016) season format will have 17 rounds on the regular season - 6 games within your conference; 5 matches against another conference from the Australasian group; 4 games against the other South African group and 2 bye. The winners of the 4 conferences plus the best 2nd from the South Africa group and the 2 seconds and best 3rd from the Australasian group will go to the Knock Out stage. This means that every team will play a minimum of 15 games and a maximum of 18 games per season.
I fail to see were the problem is, but I do see a lot of guys afraid of change. Fortunately changes are good, disruptive or uncomfortable but good for the growth of the game![BLINK][/BLINK]
Thanks for this. I completely agree with the Pacific Islanders option, and the alternative format. I loved that the Pacific Islanders played against the All Black's years back. Their rugby needs to improve. They have for far too long been the black sheep of the rugby world.
