SuperRugby: Chiefs v Bulls. 25/05/2012

Surely the Chiefs should have gone for goal there...

EDIT: Or they could just take the scrum, pull off a great set move and score a try

Good to see Cane on.

Who is this Horrell cat? Never heard of him, but looks impressive.

He is from Hakwes Bay (at least played his first season of NPC for them last year), mainly played 10 but also had a couple of games at 12. He kicked their goals, and was very accurate. Now playing pretty well at 15 so seems like a very good utility, has looked pretty classy this season.

He's a 10/12 who plays for Hawkes' Bay (he is originally from Canterbury) in his first season of Super Rugby. He is unheralded, but he is a very intelligent player, and good goal-kicker too.

The only 2 things that kept Bulls in touch with the game, were the amount of possession and the Chiefs missing tackles!
Each ball the Chiefs were touching, they looked dangerous and they scored tries.

Sad Morné, the more you kick the ball, the more you forget how to deliver the easiest pass... :(

Yes bulls were fairly impressive in patches but just couldnt handle sbw and and cruden. Once the chiefs scored that last try the bulls looked a little lost when they realised they might actually have to score a try. To be fair they did score a good one though.

SBW was bloody impressive in this game especially considering the bulls D i dont think was that bad they were just made to look worse than they are by a pretty impressive chiefs backline. The way they worked a couple of those trys was just insane.

That's pretty impressive then. I'll keep an eye out for him in the future.

Bulls looked very poor when using the backs (bar, of course, there one try from Basson). Their best tactic was kicking the ball up in the air and hoping the Chiefs would knock it on (which they happily did).

I thought the reffing was average. There weren't too many major calls, but a couple of rules Lawrence got completely wrong.

Are the Bulls the most boring team in the competition? I swear the ball was at the back of their ruck for a quarter of the game.

Chiefs backs never really got going, but managed to grab a brace of good tries from the opportunities they did get.

^^ I would of said exactly what you said above but everybody knows how the bulls play. I dont think they were at there best today remember this i think was the last game of a road trip for them before they play the stormers back in SA so i think they were always going to struggle in the last 20 or so.
They are really missing habana on the wing and a couple of good midfielders.
My only gripe with them is that centipead thing they do at the back of a ruck is bullshit that should be illegal just because it looks retarded as hell.

Ha-ha, have to agree with the centipead thing, it takes for ever and they still manage to charge-down Hougaards kicks. We really need a Jaco Pretorius(at his best) in the mid field.

I thought Hougaard was quite poor today, threw a few too many hospital passes etc.

IMO Morné Steyn was poor too.

In these matches, you need at least a good flyhalf on the bench to try to change something... yes maybe it's not enough at the end of a long tour, but I'd have changed Steyn in the second half!

Do they have a good back-up?!

How good is Andrew Horrell? I don't think I've seen him make a mistake this season...

this reall is a golden year for the chiefs, every time they pull a card from the deck it turns out to be an Ace
