Suggestions/ideas for Rugby 2012

Seriously good of you guys to ask for suggestions from the people who are actually going to play the game. Thanks for that guys :)

Now I know this may be a bit much to ask, but wouldn't it be great to have a slow-mo option in the game, like if you were to take a kick on your own goal line, under pressure.
I'm thinking of something along the lines of red dead redemption's "dead eye", obviously there would be a cap on how much the player is able to use this option.
Might give you a chance to add some cool cinematic type sequences during the actual game. Now don't get me wrong, I know budget is limited etc. but I'm dreaming here, and you might consider this for future rugby ***les.

Has been said before but just want to make sure it is heard.

1. Practise area
- Scrums, Mauls, Lineouts
- These practise areas don't need to have goals, just an area where people can try stuff out or improve their skill

2. Creating own Set Plays
- at least Back plays for Scrums, Lineouts and Rucks
- If at all possible, allow for Forward set plays in Lineouts and Scrums
- End all be all - compined plays between forwards and backs.

3. Quick Ball Button
- This should allow for any person at/near ruck will act as scrum half and fire the ball out to closest person in the back line (a forward or back)
- This will allow for better chances of besting the defence before it is set up.
 
i think that impact players should be players that have an x-factor, such as quade cooper, kurtley beale, israel dagg, courtney lawes, players that create something out of nothing. you would then have an impact meter which builds up thorugh a players involvement such as scoring, linebreaks etc. when it is full, you could use it, and it slows the play right down for a period of time so the player can do something freakish when u need it such as make a break, make a tackle, kick the winning conversion. it would be used at gamebreaking times and this would be better than the current system.
 
Phase counter that pops up under score say after at least 5 phases.

Some more stats to look at like, pass completions or interceptions etc.

Time should run more, like during scrum set ups etc.

Also players should have to do the engage part of the scrum. As a lot turnovers are caused by the impatience of some teams engaging too early.

A wider angle view. I hate when I pass to someone who isnt there simply because the camera angle didn't show me that area of the field.

More lineout choices, like faking the front then going middle or something. So you the front guy get lifted but passes to a different guy. Also allow opponent to lift more than one guy. But if always lifting more than one guy could result in loss of defence if they don't get the ball.

Up and under, or box kick from the scrum half position.

And of course.... Better AI!!! I'm sure most say this one. But yes too easy to beat the computer opponents. I'm sure this is being worked on, most obvious problem. If it's not... I won't be buying this game yet getting it illegally, cos it's waste to play the game if the competition is no better.
 
I do not know wether this has been said or not but you should make the shirts more reallistic because i have 08 and the shirts are just one colour really

This sounds like a very interesting idea... It seems like it would be better suited as a feature of 'be-a pro' mode
 
How about being able to dive for the corner and score, or a last-gasp try-scoring button? In 08, you either score it by placing it or you get destroyed for a 22 drop out. That would make it more realistic
 
There should be the ability to create your own set plays like FIFA.

Also agree with the kicking, should be able to do a chip and case, that is used more then the grubber is.

Offloads should be left for the player to decide as a posed to which ever way the computer decides.

Should have the hit stick like what madden has, but not essensial.

Player customerisation should be more detailed.

Side Stepping needs to be fixed up too, they step too slow.

the ruck we should be able to control, but yet again, adding more to the game play would only slow the game down more.
The best thing about Rugby 08 is the pace of the game. DLC will be heaps good for this game, ****** me off when you have players not being able to play the position they play now, roster updates will be good. Cant wait to see the game. Graphics arent even an issue, just get the game play right and make sure the running is free flowing. I dont think there should be impact players, just star attributes like high speedy, strong, fast thinker, passing so forth, offloading etc, the last game featured it but didnt play a big part to the game. EG. NONU would have the the strength attribute and would break tackle more then say Dan Carter would etc etc.

AHHAHAH I put it on the hardest settings playing against the all blacks with like western force and I still belt them by 40 or 50 points, yes please increase the difficulty of AI, online play will make it more intense anyways, sick of playing against my cousins, too easy! I need a challange! LOL
 
I know this is probably too much to ask for, but I hope they include all the 2011 Rugby World Cup venues in the game like Invercargill, Rotorua, Whangarei, etc as well as the major well-known venues.
These venues can also be used if the game also includes the ITM Cup tournament.

i think a great idea would be a kind of be a pro mode like in fifa also more leagues and teams and a improved manger mode maybe a create a team function.
 
Since no Manager Mode will be available I think the game should therefore be made to be very good, such as:-

1) Graphics should be better: in '08 the players looked like cut out cardboard paper and not Authentic at all.

2)gameplay revamped: the pressing of the x button for ruking is not on,the line-outs need a new look like more movement and variations.

3)Kicking: the arrows must be removed all together and have the powering feature like in fifa instead.

4)Weather: the weather must have an effect on the game and gameplay i.e players slipping when sidestepping,dropping the ball more,kicks being affected,not only on conversions but on open play aswell.

5)set-pieces: Creating your own set moves would be nice,i mean they more effective in rugby than they are in soccer but fifa has the feature.

6)Man of the match feature!

7)More teams or more leagues

8)I liked the cups mode like the super 14,Tri-nations etc.

And with the rest, surprise us hahahaha!!!

Oh i nearly forgot...It would be really cool since every one is complaining about the difficulty, that you have the Madden system in which they first test out your skill level and set the AI relative to your skill level, rather than choosing 'easy' ,'hard' etc.
 
Sorry if I'm going to repeat things said before!
Well, I came straight from Rugby 2006 as I found Rugby 2008 nothing really new and improved... so:

FEATURES

- Better camera angles, especially from behind (classic 1 and 2).
I like to play with it, but in R06 the view is too narrow, when you kick you can't see touch line and when you try dropgoal, you can't see the post, a kind of zooming shoud be the answer - BTW I know that it has been really improved in R08

- Custom tournaments
Not only 10 Nations and World League, but also the possibility to create your own club tournaments (as I said before, Autumn Internationals and Summer Tour should be included as well as Lions tour).
Would be nice if when playing multi-years tournaments (World League etc..) as your team improves in playing and wins match it should be reflected in rating of the team and players too. Getting better and better, without buying players necessarly.

- Special team editing
Barbarians, Pacific Islanders, NZ Maori etc... should be edited like others team


GENERAL PLAY
- Flyhalf on the run
Please keep it! It's a great stuff when you have quick ball from r/m, but there is one thing to improve: in R06, when doing flyhalf on the run move, AI takes your most outside player and moves him inside of the flyhalf, but it's not a good thing to take one player away from the outside, and move him on the opposite direction where you're attacking. It's a good idea to have someone inside the flyhalf, a really good option, but he should come from the side where you're not going to attack!

- Better lineouts
I really liked it in Rugby2004, with a lot of movements with locks, flankers and n. 8. It's not real to take lineout where you have 3 options, only 2 players can be lifted, and only 1 can take quick tap.

- Better kicking and passing
With some players you should be allowed to score dropgoals from over 40m. Please, try to improve the grubber kick, it horrible in R06, you almost not allowed to do anything. Also chip kick should be available.
In R06 it's very hard to find space with punt kicks, the fb often can catch the ball even if he's 5m away from it... DO NOT make Wilko-Carter-Monty & Co. that can take 100m bombs. IT IS NOT REAL.
Better skip pass, not bobbling-suicide ball exposed to intercept or killing tackles from the defenders!

- Positioning
One of the most disappointing thing is the movements made by the players without the ball: they always run the same direction of the carrier, but they should change angles and runs opposite lines sometimes. I know it would be hard to implement, so... don't worry! :D

- Defence
I always get ****** off when defending in R06! Your 2 centres and openside wing simply run away from the line opening The Red Sea Gap in midfield, which also a sleeping Moses can run into it.
This forces me to use one player to cover the whole gap, this is unreal, but it's also unreal that I CAN DO IT! Because AI's attack it's awful and stupid, so you can always stop it with just one player!
Improve defence of the Player (because defence of CPU doesn't do that, smart!! ;) ), and improve the difficulty level! Too easy!

Can't run through the scrums and mauls and rucks and such.

A referee on the field would be nice, kinda weird hearing his voice from out of no where.

More penalties that your guys will inflict as well. So often is the computer handling the ball in the ruck etc. and I never commit the foul.
 
Create a player and play through seasons as just him, similar to FIFA, but chose where to put your experience points, e.g. Strength, Power, Sprint Speed, etc.
 
same as rugby 06 but with updated teams and players would simply do for this edition of the game. if they used this as a base for this years game and made improvements every year that would be good enough for me!
 
i've been playing Rugby 08 since the thing came out, never met someone i could'nt beat at the game and consider myself the out right KING of 08...but i choke out playing world cups and the odd loss to Aussie ahahahahahahaa nah jus playin...aussie NEVER beat me or anyone who uses aussie. i read all the **** here and really, i dont expect much to change. If i dreamed a dream it would be somthing like "Be a legend" Mode simular to Fifa, where you create, upskill and kick ass.
