Sorry if I'm going to repeat things said before!
Well, I came straight from Rugby 2006 as I found Rugby 2008 nothing really new and improved... so:
FEATURES
- Better camera angles, especially from behind (classic 1 and 2).
I like to play with it, but in R06 the view is too narrow, when you kick you can't see touch line and when you try dropgoal, you can't see the post, a kind of zooming shoud be the answer - BTW I know that it has been really improved in R08
- Custom tournaments
Not only 10 Nations and World League, but also the possibility to create your own club tournaments (as I said before, Autumn Internationals and Summer Tour should be included as well as Lions tour).
Would be nice if when playing multi-years tournaments (World League etc..) as your team improves in playing and wins match it should be reflected in rating of the team and players too. Getting better and better, without buying players necessarly.
- Special team editing
Barbarians, Pacific Islanders, NZ Maori etc... should be edited like others team
GENERAL PLAY
- Flyhalf on the run
Please keep it! It's a great stuff when you have quick ball from r/m, but there is one thing to improve: in R06, when doing flyhalf on the run move, AI takes your most outside player and moves him inside of the flyhalf, but it's not a good thing to take one player away from the outside, and move him on the opposite direction where you're attacking. It's a good idea to have someone inside the flyhalf, a really good option, but he should come from the side where you're not going to attack!
- Better lineouts
I really liked it in Rugby2004, with a lot of movements with locks, flankers and n. 8. It's not real to take lineout where you have 3 options, only 2 players can be lifted, and only 1 can take quick tap.
- Better kicking and passing
With some players you should be allowed to score dropgoals from over 40m. Please, try to improve the grubber kick, it horrible in R06, you almost not allowed to do anything. Also chip kick should be available.
In R06 it's very hard to find space with punt kicks, the fb often can catch the ball even if he's 5m away from it... DO NOT make Wilko-Carter-Monty & Co. that can take 100m bombs. IT IS NOT REAL.
Better skip pass, not bobbling-suicide ball exposed to intercept or killing tackles from the defenders!
- Positioning
One of the most disappointing thing is the movements made by the players without the ball: they always run the same direction of the carrier, but they should change angles and runs opposite lines sometimes. I know it would be hard to implement, so... don't worry!
- Defence
I always get ****** off when defending in R06! Your 2 centres and openside wing simply run away from the line opening
The Red Sea Gap in midfield, which also a sleeping Moses can run into it.
This forces me to use one player to cover the whole gap, this is unreal, but it's also unreal that I CAN DO IT! Because AI's attack it's awful and stupid, so you can always stop it with just one player!
Improve defence of the Player (because defence of CPU doesn't do that, smart!!
), and improve the difficulty level! Too easy!
