Regions better get a hell of a payout for their players.

Each region is getting £500k
£3.6 million three year loan available.
10-15 players will be contracted

Also:

The core funding to Regional Rugby Wales will stay at £6.7m, with that figure to increase on an index-linked basis over the coming six years. That will be in return for the release of players for international duty and observing overseas quotas.
On top of that, an annual pot of £3.3m is to be set aside to fund dual contracts, with the WRU contributing 60 per cent - about £2m - and the regions making up the remaining 40 per cent.
That will in turn free up money from the regions' wage bills, enabling them to strengthen their squads.

Are we happy?

Sounds quite reasonable from where I'm sat.

Are the WRU contracts yearly/two years/case-by-case?
Will they make an effort to bring players back? I'd rather sign one good player over three bad ones.
How much have we set aside to bribe refs in the RWC next year, given our situation?

What is it with the WRU's greed and the 4th AI?
Do they want to completely ruin any chance the regions may have of succeeding in Europe?

Wow so they've finally done it!

Here, we look at the key details...

* A six-year £60m-plus package running through until 2020.

* A core index-linked payment of £6.7m to the regions in return for the release of players for international duty and observing overseas quotas.

* An annual pot of £3.3m a year to be set aside to fund dual contracts, with the WRU contributing 60 per cent - about £2m - and the regions 40 per cent.

* Wales coach Warren Gatland to decide which players are offered dual contracts

* A one off payment of £2m to the regions, with the Scarlets, Blues, Ospreys and Dragons each receiving £500,000.

* A further £3.6m loan facility available to the regions for three years of the agreement.

* Each region limited to a maximum of six foreign players, plus two time-servers - overseas players going down the qualification route.

* Warren Gatland to have access to his home-based players for 13 days prior to the start of an international campaign.

* Regions to release players for the out-of-window fourth autumn Test.

* The Wales A team to be reintroduced, with the initial plan being to play one game a year, around Six Nations time.

* Gatland's Law to be implemented, where players who sign future deals with clubs outside of Wales will only be considered for international duty in exceptional circumstances.

* Up to three players from each region will be available for Wales 7s selection

* Regional academies to be run by the regions, with the WRU providing £600,000 of funding each year

I can't see 'Gatlands law' being implemented too strictly as theres too many players playing in France.

Hopefully it can bring a few of them home, Roberts said recently that he wants to come to the Blues at some!e point in the future, so hopefully this can be an added temptation for him and the others.

I may be wrong but will that A game effect regions as they're kept busy with Pro12 and LVG Cup around that time.
Also regards Gatlands Law - IF Halfpenny for example signs a new contract with Toulon then is this a future signing which excludes him from Wales?

The A game will I think by the sound of it be played during the break in the 6 Nations. Busy enough schedule but I think a welcome return.

For the contract see as exactly as you described. Whether it is enforced is another question. So if you sign a new deal outside of Wales then your not eligible for Wales.

The A game will be in what is a busy schedule if a region goes far in LV.

Regards contracts my point is does that force players to return so. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out for sure

Doubt it'd affect the knock outs and the regions don't exactly put out quality teams all that often in the group stages anyway, so does it really matter?

The regions will effectively have to put out club sides though in the lv cup...

I think you are over-egging the puddling. How can ONE match completely ruin an entire campaign?

No 4th AI would undoubtedly mean less money for the Regions, which would have a far bigger negative effect than players spending an extra week in international camp.

Since nobody answered Feic's question - are people happy? It looks like a reasonable deal to me. Not amazing maybe, and it seems the WRU get the better end of it, but I don't think the Regions are losers here.
