Stanley Cup Playoffs

Well its that time of year again the NHl stanley cup playoffs are upon us and I jsut want predictions of who is gonna win

well i want the devils to win, only cause i saw them play when i was there last month.

no idea whos in the playoffs though havnt followed it as we dont get it over here

The Devils were just eliminated by their rivals across the hudson the Rangers. Other series include



East

1 Montreal vs 8 Boston - Series tied at 3 a piece Original Six rivalry at its best

2 Pittsburgh vs 7 Ottawa - Pittsburgh won in 4 Pittsburgh destroyed a lacklustre Sens outift

3 Washington vs 6 Philadelphia - Philly leads 3 - 2 Washington playing their best hockey of the season but so is philly hopefully Ovechkin can di the caps out of this one

4 Devils vs 5 Rangers - Rangers in 5 Games Rangers were simply too classy for a team who can't score and doesn't possess the defensive pedigree of old



West

1 Detroit vs 8 Nashville - Detroit leads 3 - 2 Detroit should win but Nashville is making it tough on them

2 San Jose vs 7 Calgary - San Jose leads 3 - 2 This is a real grinder series San Jose were 17-1-1 before facing Calgary and the series has been veyr physical

3 Minnesota vs Colorado - Colorado wins series in 6 Colorado simply too good offensively for the Wild another case of not being able to put the puck in the net

4 Anaheim vs Dallas - Dallas leads 3 - 2 Anaheim is good but Dallas is making it tough on them



Personally I want Montreal to win but they are having trouble just putting away Boston who are playing with so much heart and soul all the series have been very physical encounters which bodes well for the next rounds of the playoffs. Watched the game last night and they were definitely getting manhandled by the Bruins I don't want to see what will happen if they lose this series the French will go crazy as game 7 is in Montreal there will probably be riots.

Always have followed the Canadiens more than any other team. Now that the Senators have gone it looks unlikely a Canadian team will win, damn!

Want to see the Rangers win. They play some great hockey and have some classy players!
its been too long since the rangers have won it and with the players they have and the form ther in, this could be their year! tho i did say this a few years back!

well the caps won last night against philly to keep themselves alive in the series - otherwise they would've been knocked out - it's gonna be tough the flyers play a suffocating defence...

I also hope that Montreal is going to win the cup but I think that's unlikely...Boston got lots of confidence now after two wins in a row...It's gonna be an interesting game tomorrow...I watched the game yesterday...The Canadians were playing good the first two periods, however, in the third they seemed too tired to me...They got to work on that for tomorrow and then they will win! :cheers:

yah they have a lot of injuries and Bostons physicality isn't helping thats for sure Kovalev has been non-existant this series and Koivu while making the plays was nowhere near a 100% last night and he was a defensive liability as a result... I still think they will make it past Boston but who knows after that....



As for the resty well hopefully Calgary wins tonight as they are giving the sharks a run for the money Calgary is a team that doesn't play so well in the regular season but they are built to play playoff hockey they are big and tough and they are working the sharks hard...



I personally think Colorado has a decent shot at going pretty far this season the same goes for Pittsburgh... 2 of the top 3 players in the league play for the Penguins in Crosby and Malkin and they also have guys like Hossa, Malone, Gonchar, Staal who can put the puck in the net and they have solid goaltending in Marc Andre Fleury

One though, can be worried of what's going to happen in Montréal if les Canadiens manage to reach the final...

Well back in 1990s Montreal went through a lot of trouble... they had the biker wars between the hells angels and the rock machine biker gnag something like 500 people were killed over a few years.... bombs were going off all over Montreal... people were getting shot it was not a veyr nice place... and then they had the native problems in Oka where there was an armed standoff between native mohawk warriors armed with assault rifles, rpgs, etc and some plice were killed... they eventually called in the army to deal with the problem... ontop of that Quebec has been dealing with the whole separatist issue which has blown over into violence a few times... so generally the cops don't f*** around when they deal with civil disobedience of any kind.

lol - Quebec was pretty peaceful when I visited in '98 - although I was mostly in the countryside along the St. Lawrence - didn't really visit Montreal or Quebec city...

anyway back on topic my relative Johan Franzen had a good day with the Red Wings getting a hat-trick and putting Detroit up 2-0 in the series against the Avs...final score 5-1

What I witnessed on avenue Sainte Catherine in 2002, as far as I remember, was a teenager who had just stolen a CD in one of the big down-town stores running away with police at his back ... with guns in hands :blink: A police car intervened stopping on the side walk. Two cops jumped out, tackled the teenager very brutally, hit him with their sticks, ... You can imagine then what it can be in case of civil disobedience...

I was in Montréal at the time of the last referendum, the atmosphere was tense but not violent. I remember especially when we were convened by our boss who explained to us clearly how we should vote ... It was a very weird time.
