whats wrong with the backline? that is the best team on form?[/b]
Replace Hook and Kearney with Jones and Rory Lamont, and swap around the centres then yes, it most certainly is.

What!?! Fitz and BOD the lions centres! We must really be desperate. They offer nothing else more than solid defence. I know there is not much of an alternative but still.

Much better than having Shanklin in the side.
Henson could be a shoe-in if it suits him... And Roberts will be there or thereabouts...

i'd actually swap bernard jackman in for dylan hartley, think hartley might be a good squad player but maybe its too much for him too soon. jackman, watching him at the weekend proved what a good ball carrier he is, on top of that the leinster lineout has been brilliant... the one thing that will work against him is that he doesn't start for ireland despite being by far the best option.

i don't think there are many alternatives to fitz and drico and i think saying they offer nothing but a solid defence is a bit unfair... fitz is lightning quick and has a great step on him... he scores most of his tries playing on the wing though but i think he's a brilliant player to have there simply because he offers so many options- wing, centre, fullback.

I hate to think about the Lions. Because currently my Lions team:

1. Jenkins
2. Mears
3. Murray
4. Hines
5. O'Connell
6. Wallace
7. Williams
8. Powell
9. Blair
10. Jones
11. Williams
12. Henson
13. O'Driscoll
14. Jones
15. Byrne

it disgusts me to see only one Englishman in there. And he's there because I can't think of any other hookers who are any good at all. The only other Englishman I could put in without knocking out a truly deserving player is Sackey at 14. And he's looked average this autumn while Mark Jones and even Tommy Bowe have looked better.

This is why I am hugely grateful that the 6 Nations is still to be played; either England stay true to form and add precisely no one to that team - or we find some form and maybe some of our players will get a look in. Whateve happens it can't get any worse than scraping in an average hooker as our only representative to the team...

6.Wallcae
7.Williams
8.Powell

Potentialy the best back row I have seen suggested in this thread so far :bravo:

Thats how id pick it but reckon Ford should start at Hooker and Rory Lamont on the wing instead of Mark Jones

He played one game.
Must have really impressed you then.

that was enough. Halfpenny is still wet behind the ears, and I can't think of a really young prodigy who's taken to top level international rugby straightaway. There's something about Tommy Bowe I don't like. Maybe it's because I've seen him palm the ball out of the dead ball area before he did it against the All Blacks and he's got away with it every time. And I still maintain the Lamont brothers, while solid, remain Scottish which doesn't endear them to wearing a double figured number. Plus I think both lack a little pace.... which Jones isn't short of. He's no superstar, which is why I still keep Sackey in the frame, because on top of his game he shits on all of them apart from obviously Shane Williams.

Also I didn't get a captain. Martyn Williams because he's ginger and amazing.

Williams at 7 wont happen IMO. His form is very poor this season and I think by June the poor guy will be just about shot.

Sorry but Williams has been a great player going forward but not so good going backwards or in a dog fight. He is now looking his age .Shame cos if the lions was last year he would have been on the bench behind Wallace.

Hahahaha dunno what games your watching mate!

You`ve got to be a real fighter on a Lions tour thats why Williams has never been a test player for them. Like I said hes great with ball in hand on the front foot but you need more to be a Lions 7.

He's never been favoured on any of the Lions Tours ...

Clive Woodward went for the lads who he loved the most and Hendry went with Back because he was the best at the time!
