Spring Tour: New Zealand vs Ireland - 3rd Test. (23/6/2012, 07:35 GMT)

I'd say it wasn't reported because in all likelihood it wasn't on purpose. A single frozen image can make it look a lot worse. McLaughlin is not a dirty player at all and a pretty nice guy any time I've met him. I'd like to see a video of it.

I remember seeing it during the game and it looked bad on tape too. Also pay attention to what McCaws face looks like before and after that incedent. I'm pretty sure that's where he picked up all the cuts on his face and around that eye during that game.

looking forward to this match, hopefully we wont see as much of this

I hope if this happens again the All Blacks report it, because he's (McCaw) not reporting these incedents players will think they can get away with it and he may be subjected to it much more often. Too much of this crap in the game. Heck I watched the U20 world cup game between SA and Eng and the SA 6 attacked the eye of an English player. IRB need to set an example and act on this stuff when it comes up. Seems like for every 4 or so incedents like this you see one gets called and not all those end in susspension. So chances are good you can get away with it.

I really hope messam has a good game and wins a spot in the championship squad off it. But once again he's not part of a trio with Read and McCaw. Thomson and Vito seem to get their chances teaming with our best two loosies (Read & McCaw) but pretty much all messams best chances and test starts have been as part of a experimental combination.

Really hope Ben Smith Nails this game too. He will be really tricky for the Irish to defend if he gets some quick ball or some good counter attack ball. he and Dagg clearly two of the best counter attacking backs in NZ.

have you actually ever played rugby? NOTHING in that photo at all, why would you even bring it up? The proof that there is nothing it in is that the Photographer would have had it on burst, so if there was any clawing with fingers that would be the picture that is available, not the one you showed above. You cant gouge someone with flat fingers. Jesus.

Could very well be where he got the cut that doesn't mean it was a purposeful gouge though. Could just be he was trying to grab the ball or get a grip on McCaw not on the head obviously and get him away from the ball.

Watching that I'd say as he only had one arm free he was trying to grab McCaw's shouldre and spin him out of the maul simple as that.

Hilarious how about pretty much blemish free record as far as I can remember that work for you?

Nah, he's bad out. Here's a picture of him punching a puppy in the leg.

that gif makes it look worse IMO, remember you are not allowed to go for the head at all. Looks like he gives McCaw a forearm on the back of the head for starters and goes for the same area around the eye 3-4 times... and the hand that really goes for the eye is the left hand which you dont see in that gif because of the angle.

I'm sure he's a nice guy off the field, funny that's the same thing everyone says about Shik Burger and Botha :p

Funny but you are I think making a big deal out of nothing there's no intent behind it I think it's clear he's going for the shoulder and that's where he ends up. For all we know McCaw's got his balls in a vice.;)

That gif does make it look bad - he does the same thing to #3 first as well, before going for McCaw.

At the end of the day McCaw should have told the ref. I am not sure if he is that kind of guy. It seems some of the comments defending the Irish player were comments used by Saints fans in defending Harley and that was ment with scorn by some Ireland fans. No intent, what were his fingers doing, he could have been fish hooking etc, etc.

Yeah, doesn't look great to be honest. Disappointed in that, I love Locky. In that spirit I'm going to plough ahead and continue to ignore the incident. what incident you say? Exactly, what incident indeed.

Actually it is different McLaughlin doesn't have a history Hartley does. Anyway that argument's already been gone over.

Call me blind or biased whatever I honestly believe on both occasions that he was grabbing for the shoulder. Franks also entered illegally in my view and if it's the maul I think it was McCaw had as well though that wouldn't excuse it if it was meant to be a gouge.

If it had been Harley on an Irish player he would have yet again been branded scum based on those pictures alone. If I said there was no intent, or that he could have had his balls in a vice. You would have laughed at me.

Don't mind BG8, he appears to be have lost an eye in the course of this debate.

I was joking about the balls thing thought that was clear. No I don't base stuff like that on photo's maybe I would have accused him if I saw the gif but as I said history makes a difference. No I wouldn't have laughed at you either I probably would have got in an argument with you and been annoyed at you but I wouldn't have laughed at you.

Great I seem to have attained the status of the old relative on the corner who shouts random expletives.

Everybody sing with me:

"Toe bone connected to the foot bone
Foot bone connected to the leg bone
Leg bone connected to the knee bone
Shoulder bone connected to the eye socket..."

I can see how McLaughlin made that error ;)

I think you might be shouting random expletives at the T.V tomo, depending on the ref and the result being good or bad.

Yeah I'm obviously crazy everyone make fun of me. If you want to spin someone out in his position you grab the opposite shoulder which involves reaching over or around the head. That's my position and I'm sticking to it.

Well it's pretty much guaranteed I'll be yelling at Poite I always do. Hopefully I'll be pleased with the result.

I can see Locky's thought process now:

"Let's spin this guy out of the maul...nope that's his face, let's try this again..... Ah, face again, this isn't going well....how big must this man's head be?? Right, one more time then aaaaand YES!"
