Scotland 2014 Six Nations Thread

For the record, Peter Horne is a centre/fullback (and possibly a makeshift 10 too, although I might have imagined that). Played well for Glasgow last season, and was breaking into the Scotland team, but then did his ACL over the summer.

whenever i saw italy play england in italy i always feel that italy were going to win. in the last game that italy played england in italy it was italy bad kicking which is the reason why they lost the match. since italy's kicking is not they're main problem in the team i think they can beat england. so that tells me that Italy will not be an easy win this year unlike last years six nations. but if italy are still on bad form then scotland will have an easy match which we should be able to win

oh ok i just never seen him play

Yeh just about Italy quickly: if they find their form from last year against France, no doubt can they beat England. But matches in a 6N tournament are all about chronology, when the games are happening; i.e. what defeats/victories prior to a match, what momentum, mindset etc...
and for Italy it's a lot about psychology. They're much worse than France when it comes to inconsistency. They've never had our calendar/form issues, and they're much more volatile and elusive to predict with performance.

atleast france haven't picked michalak to mess things up for france unlike last year which i think is the only reason why france lost to italy last year and pretty much all games last year. even thought france beat scotland last year though but i think scotland were just unlucky. and i wish stuart hogg would smash michalak when he had the chance :D

no honestly the whole France squad as a team lost to the whole Italian squad. Michalak wasn't to blame at all. His horrible form really starts in Paris against Wales the following weekend. Italy looked really good that match, no thing to be said. Except of course the same old facts: France got like 3 days, no joke, 3 days of preparation together before the 6N when Italy had about 2 weeks. We did score one very nice try though that night...

anyways: I'm quite interested in this coming Italy Scotland match.

And I'm sorry Scotty but Scotland wasn't unlucky. In fact France really should have scored that third try at least, but our struggles on attack were pretty awful. And that Visser try was off an offside configuration ! ;) if anything they got lucky.

italy did play which was to be they're best game in 2013 but the fact is that most games are now mostly depending on the 10 and this video shows how michalak lost france the match but i suppose in scotland's point of view france weren't really switched on in the first half and scotland deserved the lead in the first then the second half we switched off and france started to play good rugby and at the end off the matched deserved to win

Yeah I just don't wtf was wrong with Michalak during that 6N/summer tests stretch. Absolutely amazing considering the 2012 June+November internationals he had only months prior...
but he wasn't nearly a disaster against Italy as a whole man, I understand he's terrible on sequences as you've shown but Italy beat France fair and square, it's not a 10 issue that cost us the game. It's the opposite no.10 Luciano Orquera that won the game for Italy by contrast, but it isn't our no. 10 who lost the game for us.
He starts to turn into a walking piece of camel shhit about the Wales game in Paris, man.

yeah to be fair Luciano Orquera had the game of his life and a dream performance and a game like that is what any team would want from they're 10, i never watched him play but is Remi Tales a good 10 cause people told me good things about him and bad things about him but i dont actually know since i never watched him play. its unfortunate that scotland doesn't have a good 10 situation Duncan Weir is decent but Jackson in my opinion is not as good as weir but he is selected as scotland's first choice 10. Heathcote is not to good either but he is only 21 years old i think Heathcote has good potential to be a good 10 for scotland even though i've only seen him play once when i had the biggest shock as tonga beat scotland and heathcote in that game knocked it on in the last minute and missed a penalty attempted from 40 metres out. i want to see heathcote go to a club where he can be the first choice 10 and i think that can resolve scotlands fly-half problem

I don't know I'm torn myself about Talès. He's DEFINITELY not as attack-minded as I like my French no. 10, and he can't kick penalties. He also has some work to do with his in-game kicking. In the last November tests, we tended to return the ball aimlessly to the opposition in stead of putting pressure with the boot.
Now in terms of qualities, he's quite tall and solid physically, is one of those modern strong-defense flyhalves, and is good with his passing and other fundamental 10 skills. Also, despite having few int'l caps yet, he's 29 and has a lot of experience playing the game, and his gathered style and maturity shows in specific stretches.

I'm very hopeful Plisson does well and becomes our 10 in time for the 2015 RWC. We'll see this coming 6N, and you'll be able to judge yourself when France comes to Murrayfield.

mm... yeah i guess so unfortunately for me im not going to any off the matches in this years six nations but i'm expecting good things from france this year

mmmmmmm, not good. This is starting to be something of a bad omen for France....when too many predict good things for France there's some sort of a strange universal chain reaction that amounts to France sucking somehow.
Well you'll just have to watch em on TV then, just like everybody else ! Say, does BBC cover ALL the Six Nations matches ? French TV does...I literally watch every single 6N match every year.
