[RWC2023 SF2] England vs South Africa (21/10/2023)

Glad to hear the actual words, context and the tone back up my thoughts.

I will give Curry the benefit of the doubt as well that he was sincere in his assumption.

Hope that the "official investigation" also gets wrapped up soon. It's just sad the trial by media the allegations caused and there will always be people who won't accept the fault lay with Currys ears. .

Doesn't appear to be it

Its an odd one certainly needs further looking at. The call sounds nothing like the alleged words Curry uses at the end of the clip. Even if you put them through a SA accent.

It's clearly a call rather than abuse.

It's also possible the mic didn't pick up the actual incident. With Bongi knowing he just used the call to then have plausible deniability if he got caught. Wouldn't be the first player to say something untoward out of earshot to rile up an opponent.

**** has such a verbal style to it which is why it's considered pretty offensive the sound rather than the implication. It's hard to mistake it for the wrong word and Kant whilst written looks similar doesn't sound like it is there.

That all said if it is correct nothing to see here. Just odd if that is it. Also still make no sense if it was a simple clarification why it dragged out at all. That the call must of been used for the rest of the match. Or that Bongi refused to shake hands when he knows it was a simple misunderstanding and could of clarified it with Tom in that show of sportsmanship.

**** I know of someone accused me of racism over a simple misunderstanding I'd be bending over backwards to explain myself and apologise.

Supposedly this isn't the incident WR are investigating, it happened afterwards

I just hope the whole thing is wrapped up quickly - they've got all the angles and audio channels etc. just get it sorted today so we can look forward to the weekend

Tom is clearly headed complaining to the ref at the end of the clip but also could of been edited as the clip not attributable. However if the clip is correct it most likely occurred during it.

Telegraph saying it isn't that clip I think - the incident being investigated is from when ball was out of play

Yeah, I think they meant the bit they're investigating happens after the ref moves away to follow the kick, so it's not the bit picked up on the refs mic - so the aftermath of that ruck rather than that ruck itself

Yes, I've heard "wit" as well. Not "white",it sounds different.. now this is funny, if Tom Curry misheard it :D

Unless Mbonamib said "Wyd kant" (wide side) to alert his backs about the English going for a cross kick on a penalty advantage.

If this is not the clip, then I really do not know when it happened. If there was any clear evidence, you'd think someone would have found it by now, with how much access there is to footage, even for fans.

I'd also be very wary of internet sleuthing if I were you. Unless a trusted source the internet is full of misinformation and twitter has got worse since the Muskining. The fact no trusted news source is reporting the "wit kant" theory let a lone backing it up suggests they are far from convinced a smoking gun has been found.

South African rugby twitter seems to be quickly becoming an absolute cesspit from what I've seen of it. Genuine calls to prosecute Tom Curry for defamation and calling him a racist for referring it to the ref.

Genuinely some of the worst fans in the business at times. I know it's only a minority of SA rugby fans, but that minority are awful.

Personal highlight I've seen is "if Bongi said it, then the real offender is Curry as he must have done something to make him say it as he is not important enough to insult unprovoked".

Mental
Being accused of racism in SA is basically a worse crime to comit than murder. Being falsely accused is even worse at times, by the very nature of how sensitive everyone over here is regarding racism. Not condoning or condemning, just putting it out there.

I do agree though we have some of the worst fans. We are 'fine with being the villains. We know what rugby means to our country and it's people, and the Boks too. We dont pick refs, and we dont cheat.

Very unfair on Curry all this I agree, and sad it's the biggest story in a WC that feels so tainted now ever since France QF. Wouldn't surprise me if this whole thing was started by a disgruntled French fan. The way they have gone on on Twitter is appalling quite honestly as well.

One of you has made a video that has had an influence though.
Making the video, and leaking it aren't the same things. But nothing Rassie or anyone else says would convince the world otherwise. He is the leader of the villains. In saying that even if he didnt leak it, it was still his fault that it could be leaked. In any case, is what it is. Rassie is a strange one.

Case in point. But as I edited, even if he didn't, he still could have prevented it. Like all things Rassie, we just dont know, and some people like that, and others hate it.

He got banned from rugby for it I don't think anyone but the most boneheaded SA fans think he didn't do it it deliberately.

He swore on the life of his own child he didn't leak it. His life was literally hell for a long time after that video. If you don't have evidence, you are just a wind bag. Any case dont want to go off topic, because then I quickly become the villain here too. Was just making a point.
