Interestingly though if WR is so concerned about head injuries, then surely in that case even if it's shoulder first, they should consider the impact of the head.

I d like one of the refs here to correct me if i m wrong but i was under the impression that if the BC used his arms to prevent landing with the neck/head that was still a red.

What a steal by Faf. Japan ball handling not up to previous standards. It must play on their minds that if they knock on then they are conceding a scrum and, by extension, possibyl a penalty. This will get inside their heads very quickly.
