RWC: South Africa - Wales (11-09-2011, 20:30)

We do have one player that is the better of his Springbok opposition!! Whoever you play at tighthead/loosehead (whichever way you want to look at it) is not as good as Adam Jones. And I'll cling to that, thanks very much! :p

That, and Jamie Roberts. Jean de Villiers is rubbish lately. Ever since he got back from Munster he has been useless.

Fair enough.

There might be a few other, mind you, depending on selections and current form. I have to admit I havn't seen the Welsh 'warm-up' tests so I wouldn't be able to say.

Hold up, what's with the sudden reversal? P Divvy hate clouding you're memory? :p

Strauss was good for the Sharks, but Springboks material? Noooo. Corne Uys, Doppies la Grange and even Barry Geel would deserve it mor

To be fair to Bennet, his performances in the warmups were the best I've ever seen him play
He threw the ball in the right direction and was surprisingly strong ball in hand on the pick and drives

Frans Steyn, Juan de Jongh, Lambie and Barritt (or is he dead set on England?) at 12 ahead as well.

I think we (Saffa's) are underrating the effect losing both Smith and Bakkies will have. Ask any Kiwi how confident they'll be going into a crunch game without Kaino and Thorn for example.

Rossouw and to some extent Burger are poor replacements. Rossouw is in the worst form of his life and Bakkies had shwon enough, for me at least, to indicate that he was ready to play some rugby and not the man again. And he is a GREAT rugby player when he decides to play the actual game.

Does that mean he is not eligible for other countries? Shame, Barritt was a massive center in his Sharks days. I hope he gets a chance in the English team

Such a pity Andries Bekker is out. He is the best lock in the world in my opinion.

My fav player.

I'd have had him ahead of Matfield because while Matfield is still the undisbuted king in the line-out he goes AWOL in general play a tad and Bekker has improved on both accounts but does not get the opportunity to take his S15 form into test rugby.

Yeah he always plays the ENTIRE Super 15, but then he misses the whole year of international rugby either because he is injured, or he is getting a 'stukkie' in some park somewhere... Massive guy. Look how small he makes Ali Williams look...

Oh, okay. I didn't know the Saxons and other similar teams counted ITO the IRB's rulings.

I'm not sure
I think people on here have said that a cap for the 'A' team for a country constitutes being locked to them

Ah yeah, here it is:
Regulation 8.2
A Player who has played for the senior fifteen-a-side National
Representative Team or the next senior fifteen-a-side National
Representative Team or the senior National Representative Sevens Team
of a Union is not eligible to play for the senior fifteen-a-side National
Representative Team or the next senior fifteen-a-side National
Representative Team or the senior National Representative Sevens Team
of another Union.

Well, he is the tallest person ever to represent the Springboks ;)

He was called up at the last minute for one game, when just about every centre was either injured, carrying an injury or had played far too much already that year, for the last game of the year mind. There were very few 'journalists/ pundits' who didn't at some point claim in the latter stages of the CC that Strauss should be called up for his 'Trojan defence' and play. ( hate that term, the Trojans got bloody wiped out and lost, how the he'll is that supposed to be a complimentary comparison?)

No doubt there would have been people calling P Divvy an idiot for not selecting him, sometimes you just cannae win. To paraphrase earlier posts, haters gonna hate.
