RWC: South Africa - Wales (11-09-2011, 20:30)

However, SA's problem areas seem to mirror those of Wales- Byrne's poor form, (Far worse than Steyns of late) Mike Phillips is far, far too slow and we're missing our two best hookers, and our third hasn't played international rugby before (Ken Owens), leaving us with just Huw 'Not Straight' Bennett. However, we have an additional problem at 10, as we're still not sure who our fly-half is. Where as even Ireland and England are pretty settled between their two quality outside halves, Wales are still switching opinon as to whether we should go with Hook, Stephen or Priestland every twenty minutes. Yet, if we can settle our team down, I'm sure we should be able to take the game.

Geez, if you haven't already, then these last 4 or so days will not be sufficient time.

Damn, wish Habana was fit ;)
Like I said, South Africans have every reason to be confident. They have the stats on their side and have pulled this off before.
I just don't think we have the confidence to beat South Africa. It seems the players write themselves off before they even step onto the field.

Clearly you didn't watch the last Tri-nations match of the Boks vs NZ...

Brussouw is healed up and we got back-up in Francois Louw
Morne Steyn's form got back in that game with the help FdP alongside him
Habana showed in that game that he's on his way back

Our Doofus coach, well there's not much we can do about him, but just think how all the other team's management will look like if we do win under his reign!

And as for John Smit, he might surprize us all...

our concerns are not such a big problem...

If I was an aussie or a kiwi I would seriously be concerned if Quade Cooper, Will Genia, David Pocock, Richie Mccaw and Dan Carter gets injured...

the boks know what to do when a key guy gets injured, the Aussies and Kiwis don't!

Yeah the Boks were just superb in 2010 when du Preez was injured ;) All teams have key players that can't be replaced - the Bok's certainly aren't immune to this.

Yeah we definitely know what to do when key "guys" get injured. Put Kirchner at 13 and play a useless little s.... like Stegmann. Problem solved.

Oh, sorry I haven't really been following NH rugby so can any of the Welsh guys tell me how George North has been doing? He was pretty damn good against SA last year.

The more he plays the better he gets, still makes the odd mistake but he is coming along nicely.

Some guys should have never been called up like Zane Kirchner, Deon Stegmann, Dewald Potgieter, Wynand Olivier, Ricky Februarie, Odwa Ndungane, Charl McLeod, Andries Strauss and a bunch of others...

Soon.. soon a new coach!

Ah thanks Cymro, will keeping an eye on him this weekend. He made his debut against SA last year right?

Yupp, bit of an explosive one! He scored 3 tries in the Warm Ups (2 vs England and 1 vs Argentina) which puts him up to 6 tries in 8 games I think.

Really looking forward to going to this game on Sunday, will be the first RWC game I've ever been to live. Can't wait!!

Hopefully Wales can pull it off, or at least make it a decent contest.

Btw whats wrong with Hougaard, as far as I have seen I have only seen him play well for SA and yet he gets overlooked alot?

To be honest, I feel Aplon and Pietersen are both more suitable as wingers and have proven themselves as a winger for the Boks.

Hougaard on the bench for 3 positions is amazing to have. Lambie for 3 other positions... I guess it's good to have some utility players to use.

Isn't he the inform scrumhalf for SA at the moment? Thought he was pretty good in the S15? Only 23 aswell.

Honestly, I would really like to know who thinks Wales will lose. I just can't see it happening.

I think they'll lose, although I hope they'll win. Boks pack + kickers will be too good in a night game in wet and windy wellington.

Nothing is wrong with Hougaard. I think he is an amazing player and our best bet for the 11 jersey. A great footballer with a few things counting against him;

- Hougaard is a very versatile player and our staff seem to think that versatile players belong on the bench
- He is white and there are talented wingers of color
- FdP is our best bet at 9 if we go with Morne Steyn (as we are). Hougaard is a good 9 but not the type to dictate play and direct the forwards which SA needs at the moment. Granted, with FdP we are betting on past form but he did show glimpses of it a few games into the S15 before getting sidetracked again.

I do. SA 32 - 20 Wal. Ek is verlangs familie van Siener.

HAHA!!

I also see Wales losing, and maybe it's a good thing that Bakkies might not play, less penalties against us.

what makes me very very excited about this game, especially about the Boks is an unknown factor. that unknown factor's name is Rassie Erasmus! the Boks played very very conservatively against the All Blacks which might have been a way to hide some of the tricks Rassie has up his sleeve.

But IMO there's not one welsh player that is man for man better than his bok opposition.

But i guess it will come down to the collective team effort

We do have one player that is the better of his Springbok opposition!! Whoever you play at tighthead/loosehead (whichever way you want to look at it) is not as good as Adam Jones. And I'll cling to that, thanks very much! :p
