RWC Semi Final: New Zealand - Australia (16-10-2011, 21:00)

Sometimes I think we should have World Cup honors awarded on a point system then the truly deserving teams would get the credit due to them ( the teams that play consistently good rugby) then you wouldn't see the kind of B.S. result like we saw unfold last night, all because we had another contest ruined by some show pony in a refs uniform. What a ripp-off for all those fans who paid big money to see the Welsh play.
WHEN are these TWITS going to be held accountable for bad decisions! If youre going to award a red card in such an important game, for goodness sake, at LEAST consult with your officials before you act......

I thought the Warburton was an idiot for even attempting a tackle like that in a match of that magnitude. Completely his own fault for testing the referee. You just can't afford to give the ref any reason to send you off/penalise you etc as it often decides the game in finals matches. I thought atleast the ref had the balls to do it, as long as if it happened again it is a red card I have no problem with it. Consistency is key.

They've manageded to play absolutely **** and make the final

Which should be even more frightening for you. If they have their "tour de force", you will lose, and if they play **** again, you may also lose.

Frightened, no. I'm stoked they made the final. It would have been good to see a team outside of the big 5 to make the final but really I want France to face the ABs in the final just to bury the demons of past world cups once and for all. They better hope NZ (or Aus) don't come into the final in top form it'll take more than "tour de force" they'll need a f***ing miracle :D

Isa Nacewa never stood out in Super Rugby. He wasn't that good at all, and I never rated Bruce Reihana either, though some will definitely disagree with me.
So was Thomas Waldrom, Isa Nacewa and Reihana. There was also someone on TRF earlier who said Tongauiha was a one man army who stood out in games up there.

Wha...What? I assume you're speaking for Chiefs fans and the Waikato supporters or even Gordon Tietjens about Reihana.

Isa Nacewa was rubbish down here

Nacewa was the one that held the Blues & the Auckland backline together when everything was falling apart. Kept McAllister @ 12 and beat the crusaders scoring a boatload of points in that match as well.
Was given the quiet word from NZRFU that if he could quash his 1 minute (i think) for Fiji, he could put himself in a possible Black jersey.

Wow where'd you get your info = Cipriani was dropped after a handful of games (then he dissapeared) - if fact he was so bad it he was about the worst player on the worst team.

Where'd you get yours? He set up quite a few tries, if anything one of the worst was Cooper Vuna. Seriously - do you just watch the youtube highlights of certain matches and make a call on it?

Wtf Nacewa was genius when he played for the Blues, whenever he left the field the Blues would go down like a sinking ship, his tactical kicking was brilliant for us, he wasn't the best passer as a first five, but he made up for it with his speed and kicking

I've been trying to pass the time all day. Played some NBA2K, ate some food, went to the gym, and there's still 5 hours to go!

Luckily the league test is on at 6pm which should help pass two of those 5 hours.

Don't know why everyone's so nervous. Ian Jones pretty much summed it up last night; The AB's wanna play the Aussies, and have wanted to play them the minute they left suncorp with that bitter taste of defeat in their mouths. There's no team in the world we would rather face and play than the Aussies simply because there's no shortage of motivation. If the boys aren't pumped for this, then quite simply they'll never be.
Beat the Aussies tonight, then beat the French next week and redemption is finally complete.

In saying that though: What will be will be lads. Good luck to both teams.

Passing the last 5 hours watching domestic cricket on TV. Good stuff.

Probably the wrong thread for this (as it's the wrong game/teams) ... but here I go anyway!

... I disagree with everything you've said except for perhaps consulting the other officials, and then only to buy a little time, take the heat out of the situation, and for the ref to cover his own arse.

... The decision was the correct one, Warburton lifted the player above the horizontal which isn't allowed and is unsafe, and then dropped Clerc when the tackler has the responsibility to put the player down safely ... had he at least put him down safely, he might have got off with a yellow card ... but, the rules are pretty clear, so the ref didn't have a lot of options.

... it's not the ref's responsibility to make the game entertaining, or provide value for money, for money for the fans ... if the fans want their money back, they should invoice Warburton.

To tie this back to this thread, and tonight's game, if the exact same situation occurred tonight, I hope the ref would rule the exact same way, regardless of whether it was an All Black or Wallaby player ... the dangerous stuff needs to be stamped out, and the offending player only have themselves to blame.

... not biased against Wales either ... I like Warburton as a player and was backing Wales too

Cant see australia getting out of this one. But I know they will want to as much as I do...
The fear of choking from the all blacks might help the wallabies though.
good luck to both teams and their counterparts in league :)

weather is great, will suit both teams, might just come down to who takes there opportunitys better =) my gut feeling is a big win, i know it sounds arrogant but maybe we will finally come good and put another one away, lets relax eh.. yeah right!
