RWC: Australia - Ireland (17-09-2011 20:30)

Earls has had a bad few games but he's a good player and i think he'll prove it this world cup......or else
Or else what? We will continue to select him relagrdless of how he or others play. Thats the way the coaches operate across the board.

Pocock will be fit lads. Its nonsense.

King????? Earls was our best back in 6 Nations and also 1 of our best players against US.
Trimble is unlucky but I don't believe we are weakened by that call

Ok, the thing I said about Earls was more of a joke than anything. But I do believe Trimble deserves to start. He has been our best player over the last 2 months. If its a choice of 2 of Bowe, Earls and Trimble I'd choose Trimble and Bowe and put Ealrs on the bench. That's not to say Earls has been bad. He's had 2 terrible games at centre and a few decent game playing on the wing in recent games but he's never looked as good Trimble.

Also, D'Arcy should be dropped for McFadden. I know it must be a shock for you all to see me saying this...

Log if Earls was a Leinster player you'd be calling for him to start and well it seems all you want is to see Ireland fail well maybe you should just take final step and support Aus because you simply are a negative Irish fan who obviously only supports your team when winning

I think Munstermuffin and Log need some sort of marriage support...or just ignore eachother... This is getting to become qute ciclical....

I'm sorry but what you're saying is ********. Log isn't turning this intop a Leinster v Munster thing, you are. What he wants is Ireland to pick the best team available. Arguing that Trimble is a better bet that Earls, Jennings provides an option we're lacking off the bench, O'Callaghan and D'arcy shouldn't have a divine right to their place in the team and going with Reddan and Sexton ahead of Murray and O'Gara is the right thing to do doesn't make him an Australia fan.

If fifteen Connacht, Munster or Ulster players were the best players available, that's who we want to see picked. I was calling for O'Gara instead of Sexton for example.

Australia by 7-10 but saying that probably makes me an unpatriotic paddy who'd like nothing better than to see us lose badly.

Aus by 7 unless they (Australia) agree to wear White and the game is switched to Dublin.

but saying that if Ireland don't buck up they could get a battering

Ireland by 6pts. Its knockout rugby now and the players will come out firing. The last 6 or 7 games were warm up games and thats how they were treated. Its the last world cup for most of the squad so and the preparations have gone well so expect them to raiise their game. Also Declan Kidney has a track record of getting his teams to peak at the right time and we all know how important that is.

The Italian pack made a battle of it and the Irish pack are much better than the Italians. They're also stronger in the 9 to 15 positions so the Aussie defense will be kept busy in all areas. Having Healy and SOB back will really add some punch to the Irish pack. Both teams like to play at a high tempo so it should be a good game to watch at least.

The Irish backrow are I would say evens on the front five with the Italian front row having an edge

Muffin is on my ignore list. I haven't viewed many, or responded to any of his posts in about 2-3 months. He seems incapable of understanding the concept of debate, so I kind of stopped trying to converse with him.

If he's is still trying to argue with me (and judging by Snoops post above, call me names), well he's worse than I thought.

Snoop thing is though he is and well it ok offering opinions for some things as I've constantly said I'd be ok if Trimble ahead of Earls but its not because Earls is playing badly just Trimble is playing well and yes offer opinions but this **** of Ryan and Leamy only got picked because they from Munster is bullshit. Maybe Ryan was picked because Cullen was poor in warm ups and Ryan playing better and deserves spot. Jennings had golden chance last week and disappeared so maybe Kidney stayed with safe option. People here are critical of Earls, O'Leary and few others but forget likes of Cullen who was poor but if he not wanting to bring this into province thing why say guys selected because of being from Munster thing. Also don't give BS about 2 HEC medals etc that's like saying last 2 games between Munster and Leinster Coughlan played Heaslip off park but I wasn't calling for him ahead of Heaslip. They different teams to Ireland different styles

Im getting pretty nervous with all the talk about Bam Bams injury concerns. Was never happy with the idea of leaving Hodgson behind for the likes of Phipps or Horne.
Pretty much all the neutral support will be behind the Irish inside the dreaded Eden Park. Not gonna make any call on who will win except say that I hope its a cracking game either way.

May I add in both calls for bench are 50/50 but as I said there offering opinion and there just been clown saying it because of non rugby reasons and Snoop if it 15 Leinster that are best for job I don't mind as I just want what best for Ireland wherever they from they all Irish

Ireland lost against Scotland. Ireland lost 2 times against a 2nd string France. Ireland lost again England in Dublin. Ireland was the most disappointing NH side during the first round against the USA.

Australia is far superior to any of those sides.

If Ireland win this game, this will be a massive surprise for everyone. I'm not even sure the Irish themselves believe their team can do something.

Cullen comes back to Leinster as captain and they start winning. That's no coincidence. Calls to have him in the team are because O'Callaghan has been so utterly inept. I'd love to see DOC turn in a great performance but apart from England in the 6 Nations, he's been poor-average for two years now, especially when he doesn't have his babysitter Paul O'Connell playing beside him. I actually don't mind having Ryan on the bench but he'd be my third choice lock behind O'Connell (by some distance our best lock) and Cullen. We all want what's best for Ireland and selecting players like D'arcy and O'Callaghan on reputation is the wrong thing to do.

You may not have been calling for Coughlan in the squad but you were saying that lemon from New Zealand Peter Borlazy was a future Irish international tighthead before he'd even set foot in this country!

Snoop I'll put it like this if Cullen is on form yes I'd consider him but is he on form I don't know.

Also I said Borlase would possibly be a International based on his performances in New Zealand and our lack of TH's.

As I said if a man is good enough or on form then regardless of province I'd play them and my point was some players fit in to different styles of play.
Jennings is good for Leinster and not great so far in green maybe because he not up to that level or maybe because he isn't suited to Irish style of play.

Yet you're not holding DOC up to the same standards. DOC isn't on form and hasn't been on form for two years. The alternative is showing better form, is a leader and is captaining teams to trophy wins.
