RWC: All Blacks - France (24-09-2011, 15:30)

I want France to win so we can have a NZ vs Aus final. Imagine a Bledisloe Cup World Cup Final... It has never happened and would be one of the greatest games EVER!

However I think NZ will win this game by 15 points, close at start and then at end NZ put nail into coffin.

Taking everything into account I think the French are in for a hiding. Mentally I just don't think they'll be there 1)they're playing at Eden park, the ABs stronghold 2)they have pretty much admitted they can't beat NZ twice this world cup 3)the loser of this match supposedly gets the easier path to the final. Do the French really want this game more than the ABs? I doubt it. A slighty off French team will get beat 13+, an off French team will get beat 30+, weather permitting.

I think it is slightly absurd to suggest the AB's will win by 30 points given we only beat Tonga by 31 points.

against an off French team? 30+ for sure. Remember what happened to an slighty off Aussie team on the same ground?, in the tri-nations that is. Been plenty of blowouts in favour of the ABs infact their most recent game was 39-12. Average score of the past 5 years has been 33-13 in favour of the ABs as well. When the French are off they're really off and get smashed, I'm just suggesting they might not be up for this game mentally, we all know the French are funny little things.

A or B

Well you can't say he has selecteed a B team, you would have to know what your A team is to do that.

Let's take a French team for granted, that's never come back to haunt us before...

Given the media hype and all the covereage - I think more than ever (I could be wrong) but I don't think the AB's will take this team for granted.

I still think at least a 20+ victory possibly alot more. The French teams in the past were up for it and had great leadership, this team doesn't seem like it has those. The French couple I'm hosting aren't all that enthusiastic about their chances.

Also - I'm liking the Road to the World Cup Final for the AB's. They could knock over every "Arch Rival" and that way no one could take away the fact that they won Rugby World Cup against the best teams. (No offence Irish supporters)

Imagine beating the French, Aussies or Boks, Welsh and then England to win the Rugby World Cup.

This is the same story all over again, when are you going to learn that when it comes to world cup, previous results just count for nothing.

Hi there,
I'm new here and happy to join. :)

I believe this may look to the usual display of France when it comes to play a more physical team...holding well during 1st half and collapsing during 2nd.
Having Parra play as a 10 is a nonsense IMO, even if was decent against lower ranked teams like Canada and Japan.
We need to improve quality of passing and rucks otherwise it will be an AB demonstration...

if the backline looks like this I will be happy... and then the starting backline needs to stay like this for the rest of the tourney....

9. Cowan
10. Carter
11. Kahui
12. Nonu
13. Smith
14. Jane
15. Mills

The French have a great record against the All Blacks in World Cups......Will the Blacks resurrect their World Cup 'Choke', probably not as they will still be alive even if they lose, it's the knock out stage when the shakes appear.

their "choke" is their own doing.... i think any "stronger" team would have beaten them in 99 and 2007... it just happen to be France.... now everyone thinks France is teh AB nemesis... look at the head to head against these 2 teams...

the reason why the AB do badly in the knock-out is because of their depth... they have too many world class players in each position so the coach has to rotate... you can't really blame him, but it breaks the teams momentum... so every week the team has to rebuild from scratch where some teams only have 15 good players and are forced to play with them..building momentum in the process...

and i'm afraid the AB are doing the same thing again... and it is because of this that they so called "choke"... if GH picks 15 players and stick with them changing 3 players max per game.... nobody will stop the AB....

So here we are... we're about to play against the best team of the world, who got the best fly half of the world... and we'll play them with a 1m80 & 77kg number ten, who played only one time as a fly half over the 4 last years...

I can't back up Marc Lievremont on this choice. I really can't. We have Trinh Duc. Yes, he's been awful during the 2 last games. But he was aweful as well against Italy earlier this year and a a superb performance against Wales 1 week later. He's our most consistant back, one of our most talented player as well.
He's been there every single time we defeated a major nation.

And Parra... is our best scrum half, by far. Even though he's young, he is a true leader for our forward, he knows when to player with them or when to give them some "rest" while playing with the backs. He's just... good.

Marc... what have you done :(

I think the "All Black choke" theory is a load of crap. The 2007 result was a below par performance yet still decided by a refereeing blunder. 2003 they were outplayed by Australia which occurs occasionally. 1999 they were sunk by a fairly remarkable comeback. English supporters calling NZ chokers need reminding of their own team's record against NZ in World Cup matches (or test matches in general). Envy can indeed cloud judgement.

The French don't have that greater record against the AB's in the world cup (like everyone seems to think). In the 87 world cup France was done over 29-9, 99 was the infamous French victory 31-43, France got done over again 40-13 in the 03 world cup and then the controversial win to France 20-18 in 07. Hardly a superb record, 2 close wins to France and also 2 thrashings at the hands of the ABs at world cups.

Not true! Colin Slade is nowhere near being world Class! same goes for the replacement flanker for Mccaw whoever it is. The All Blacks also lacks World Class locks apart from Brad Thorn and as for their scrumhalves, well Cowan, Weepu and Ellis all have serious faults in their game which has been exploited numerous times...

The Downfall for the All Blacks this time around is that they DON'T have that surplus of world class talent in their ranks as they think they do, and hopefully the French can exploit it with this game to make the other qualifiers aware of things they might have missed...

? the ABs probably have the most balanced of all the 30 man squads. We have as many world class players as any other team. Yeah we're in trouble say we lose Carter but so is any other team that loses a key player i.e Aussie losing Pocock. All teams are vulnerable just as much as the ABs difference is ABs can probably cover key loses better than any other team, on paper.
