My two cents:

I allways admired Russia, and readed russian authors and generally admired russian's dignity. But there's one thing I cannot understand: why feeling proud of your country when you live so poorly? Because I do not feel proud of my country when going to any small town and seeing how poor they are. And, in that aspect, Argentina and Russia are similar: ARG has Rosario, Córdoba and BsAs as its only cities. Like real cities, in which you can walk all day and never see the end of it, with subway and regular public transportation thought (better or worst) for the masses. The rest is mud stains in the middle of nowhere. Russia's only cities are St. Petersburg and Moscow.

My point being: our country can be bigger and the economy as well, Argentina produces more soy than than almost everyone else... so? When you live poorly, what does it matter?

Because that can be good: russians are les childish than southern europeans, and they are less materialistic, and that is great, you don't see thirty something guys playing xbox like children, but you also don't have the satisfaction of living in a place with great public structures that you all maintain and support- and that is great and is a part of society.

In other words: the better you live, you cooperate, you behave... the better your country is as a whole. That is being civilized. It's not only the great individuals (Tolstoi Gogol Nabokov Mussorgsky Pushkin Chejov), but the people like you and me and everyone else, paying taxes, being a citizen, recycling... what about being proud of that? What about trying to be better at that and recognize when somebody just does it better? The westerners usually look to Japan in that regard.

I am super pro russian in other aspects, but I think some people from Russia got it wrong.
