Good Morning Guys,
So I've been playing the game a bit. Some of it I like, I must admit some of it I don't like.
Pros:
- Updated on 2015
- Training more in depth
- Finances make more sense
- Having to meet league criteria is of genuine importance
- More approaches from opposing teams for players
Cons:
- UI - I hate it. If I'm honest. Everythings too large, from the buttons, to the screens in general. I've got it toned down to my screen and have tried windowed or full screen. No effect. Much preferred 2015s layout. Heck just copying football manager here would be perfect.
- Match Engine - My main real gripe. Not the engine itself, but the view. The views are rubbish. The screen just keeps going round and round and round. I've no idea what's going on. In the end I just say bugger it and hope for the best for any penalty calls but I have no say in what's going on because the view is going round and round the stadium so much it's not even bothering to focus on play. I'd rather play instant result... which doesn't seem fun!
- Scouting - What's up with this? Why should I have to scout every team just to find out anything about players? When you take over a team like Saracens for example, like I did, there's no need to scout top teams, most people know what's going on with each other at that tier of the game anyway, very rarely does the scouting help in that regard. We know who's good and who's not. Scouting is good for slightly lesser known players and leagues to find gems, not to scout players we already know just for the sake of it.
Meh:
Accuracy - I think I kind of understand this though. From what I can tell, the really important players are given a star ranking and the game generates higher stats for them, that's fine. The rest are then roughly simulated with rough ideas on stats. But I've seen games with Manu Tuilagi on only 20 power... are you mad?
Couple of hours impressions... Obviously I'll play the game, I'll always support rugby manager games and hope they come good, however from a UI and Match Engine perspective, 2015 was much better. It's spoilt the game a little bit for me because, if the cons were fixed above, it's hard really to find too many gripes. I haven't delved beyond 1 season so I don't know if the financial system in place works but it seems ok so far. Overall, 5/10.
I never give ratings that low but felt the first 2 cons left me really frustrated.
