So many double-standards surrounding Italy, your'e right. In this case though, Burton is such a god-awful kicker that he is unlikely to score. Halfpenny is almost guaranteed.

How could Italy contrive to think going for the corner was a good idea?

So late in the half... ah... Maybe they thought they could hold onto the ball and earn the penalty for the last play of the half, negating the risk of Wales gaining possession from the restart unnecessarily.

North could easily have placed the ball but he was holding it in to his chest.

Probably won't get called for it, they never do when it's not a "stamp", but was definitely deliberate.
