RBS 6 Nations - Wales vs Italy- 10/03/2012, 14:30

I thought that too Dull.
Just a quick question for the non-Welsh on here: IF we do win next Saturday will we be allowed to talk about winning the Grand Slam on here or will we have to go down Walkabout on St Mary's Street and make sure no English, Irish or Scots can hear us gloating, cocky wankers?

hahahaha I love reading your posts Cyril, you certainly provide entertainment :D :D :D

Its very true about the whole thing. Surely the fact that its the final game that decides whether a "GS" is won, then people have the right to talk about it??? If it was the first game then individuals should be shot down. The whole Gatland quotes though, He said it would be special IF it happened. He didn't say it was a sure thing. Less than a week to wait I guess.

Italy's back-row were pretty immense in that game yesterday, really made things difficult in the breakdown. Thought the ref was pretty "keen" in the breakdown, but at least he seemed consistent from what I recall from the game.

Tupuric had a great game, guess the MoTM had to be given to Cuthbert cause he scored a try - Forwards don't get enough praise at times (not to take anything away from Cuthbert though).

Gonna be a very spectacular ending to the championship next weekend. France losing to Engand today won't do us any favours at all :( :( They'll now come with a "try anything" attitude (as the always wonderful JD put it earlier ;) ), which will make for an extremely tough afternoon, and a nervous 80 mins of rugby from me!!!! (Why must I be off alcohol for lent :( :( :( )

Congrats to the English btw, playing some very nice rugby and deserved the win in France!

Gatland did not help the cause at all yesterday with his comments after the game and in the press conference that followed to be honest.

I do not think the potential talk of "We have won the grand slam three times in eight years" is helping. The French feel no need to mention how many times they have won the six nations ***le and god forbid any Englishman if he mentions how many trophies England have won in the past.

I am not sure people mind Wales winning I think not everyone is convinced by all the hype about how amazing they are.

Do you mean England or Exiles XV? Surely with the amount of foreigners in the team.

Warren Gatland is a manipulative, obnoxious prick who's second only to Brendan Venter as the worst possible ambassador the game could have. He's historically always done the pissy interviews mistaking himself for Alex Fergusion.

You'll live longer if you choose not to listen to him.

Please enlighten me as to how Gatland is a "manipulative, obnoxious prick"? He just speaks his mind, and that is what is missing in society these days. Anyway if he is, then he has a right to be, as he is a very successful coach when you look at his career as a coach. But to me, a manipulative, obnoxious prick would highlight Martin Johnson, that big fat twat. He is the most arrogant coach i have seen, when ever his team lost, it was how **** his team were, and how poorly they played, but never credit to the other team. Now, i might add; Stuart Lancaster seems to be a very likeable coach, who is gracious in defeat, and is shows good sportsmanship.

Oh and well done to England, on a very impressive win. Long may it continue - but not against Wales :p

Ah that old chestnut, well done Toby only took you since joining in February to pull that one out the bag.

Too easy.

Just wondering how do you merge posts? I don't know how to merge. For instance if I post something and meanwhile someone else posts another thing how do I get their quote into my original post?

Below your sig and at the right hand side, there should be an 'Edit Post' function.

If you want to copy a quote, just quote as you would normally and then copy and paste it from there into your old post using the edit post function.

Thanks.

But to be truthful, i would rather lose the grand slam, and Wales tour Australia and win that. That would be more impressive, and a sign of progression. But even if we don't; Wales are bloody fantastic for a country the size of Tasmania in Australia, with little resources, and population. Now that's what makes us a truly special team.

Wales has a population of 500,000? Wow that truly is incredible, we managed to get 1/9 person in the country to get into our stadium yesterday![/end sarcasm] (yes I do know Wales has a population of 3 million).

Sorry I'm late guys, just got back from Cardiff a couple of hours ago and watched the game again when I got back. Lucky I did go down as a power cut stopped my sky+ recording the whole game!

Clancy was not giving us any time at the breakdown at all. This was consistent in that it was the same for them too. But at the same time we where doing more in possession than they where and could have done a lot more with that ball. Although we shouldn't just blame the ref for this. We should have just slowly gone through the fazes instead of sending it wide so often, they were always going to be a hard team to break down and we should have just taken our chances. I.e. go for the posts instead of the corner.

But we shouldn't complain too much, a win is a win and Italy played well in defence (with Clancy not helping:p) and a 21 point margin is pretty good, I'd take that any day of the week in the six nations. Our try's were opportunistic and it's good to see we can punish a team from unexpected possession and from quick ball if we put our minds to it (hint hint Mike).

I'm not going to go into detail about the yellow card as I believe the Welsh forum hierarchy we hunt me down and send me to the nearest slaughterhouse if I do:p btw I'm not agreeing with Healey

Italians did well in defence and in the forwards, only for Burton to kick ball away. Botes at scrum half seemed to make the whole team better so maybe it's not just his fault. There back row played very well, especially at the breakdown, although Mr. Clancy didn't help us there(yes I'm not going to stop:p)

Overall I am rather pleased with the performance. Rees got through unscathed and Charteris came with an impact(Gonzalo Canale shall still be feeling it) so if Warburton's back we should be set for a great game against the frenchies. Fair play to Tipuric, he did well, but he's not the same man as Warburton yet and we'll need our captain back for this game. Roberts had a decent game after coming back from injury.

I'm not sure where all the Priestland hates coming from, it wasn't his best game but he was far superior to himself 2 weeks ago. He varied his game a lot and didn't make a huge amount of mistakes. Besides, Hook was far worse last time he played fly-half, Stephen has been a great servant but is past it and I don't trust Gav yet. He's the right man.

Oh bugger, I just remembered I missed the Northampton game. Stupid journey home!
