Premiership Rugby 21/22 - Grand Final

Montoya was running faster
Weird distinction to make when (as mentioned above) Davies was going forward too
Not like it was a passive hit, he clobbered him in the face
Literally just making stuff up to not give a red I think. I've never seen whoever created the force considered before, nor should it be.

Barnes should retire ASAP, going the way of the celeb ref a bit recently.

This is as close to vintage Billy as I can remember.

They've used it in the Prem this season,
Seen passive hits (i.e. to hold up/create a maul) that end up with the ball carrier running into a shoulder been given as yellows

Yeah but passive is if you stand there and go backwards. Davies was going forward, just Montoya was stronger. Barnes got it wrong.

It wasn't a passive hit though.
SH was moving forward in the tackle, just that Montoya went further forward.
The tackle was forceful and to the head, it's red all day long.

Interesting if I recall correct Gibson Park got a yellow in a champions cup game for very similar, it's certainly not unique here.

Thinking about the discussion has anyone actually said it was a clear yellow and not a red? Aren't we all just discussing precedent and why Barnes was wrong?
