Premiership 24/25 - Round 3

Ive been wrong thinking Chiefs will win the first 2 rounds, let's hope I'm wrong again as I can't see us beating Sarries unfortunately.

I thought Saracens would need an adjustment period without Farrell, the Vunipolas, Maitland and Lewington. Apparently not. How annoying!

Bit nervous about our game vs Gloucester - defence has looked a bit ropey at times and they were scoring tries for fun on the weekend. Unless something drastic changes in our mindset/gameplay we don't have it in us to win a "concede 4 but score 5" kind of game

Injury list is absolutely rotten as well:
  • Ford (torn muscle, no word on when he's back yet - seeing a specialist)
  • Rob du Preez (limping badly on the weekend, really hoping it was just a deadleg)
  • JLdP (doing return to play protocols, don't think he's eligible for this week)
  • DDP (not due back until rd 4)
  • Willgriff John (as above)
  • Hill (as above)
  • Quirke (5 weeks away)
  • Nick Schonert (out until end of october/early november)
  • EvR (doing return to play protocols - hopefully back this week)
  • T Curry (as above)
  • Le Roux Roets (neck injury, due back this week or next)
  • Rodd (hamstring injury, due back whenever the Prem Cup starts)
  • Harrison (torn hamstring, out long term)
Does a red card = automatic 1 week ban? If so then Dugdale got two yellows last week so will be missing too

Sounds like RdP and EvR will both be fit to play, but Tom Curry hasn't passed RTP protocols and Ben Curry and Hyron Andrews are both out

Still waiting on injury update for Siva Naulago who was the recipient of a nasty leading by head tackle. Guess he'll be out with HIA anyway but could be longer term and if so that's another big loss through injury.

On a side note B*th asking me to spend £80 to stand in open terrace or £70 to sit in the corner of an exposed temporary stand with awful view and accompanying gusting whiff of chemical toilets is outrageous. I'd love to have gone but cannot justify those prices. Suppose it's one way to ensure travelling support is kept to a minimum at the wreck.

Sale Sharks starting XV:
15. Joe Carpenter, 14. Tom Roebuck, 13. Will Addison, 12. Sam Bedlow, 11. Arron Reed, 10. Rob du Preez, 9. Gus Warr; 1. Si McIntyre, 2. Luke Cowan-Dickie, 3. Asher Opoku-Fordjour, 4. Ben Bamber, 5. Josh Beaumont 6. Ernst van Rhyn, 7. Sam Dugdale, 8. Rouban Birch.

Replacements:
16. Ethan Caine, 17. Tumy Onasanya, 18. James Harper, 19. Tom Burrow, 20. Le Roux Roets, 21. Nye Thomas, 22. Tom Curtis, 23. Waisea Nayacalevu.

Really happy with the backline - pack is as good as we can put out with the injuries

Another few injuries and other changes. We've got a more mobile team there so let's do how it goes. I'm guessing a saints victory which ends nervously.

Dealing with a few injuries of our own, particularly in the back three.

I don't love Smith at 15. I'd have had him and Jarrod Evans the other way round but good to see Will Joseph back.

Could be a fun game but I can only see a Saints win.

I guess that means Evans will be the designated kicker.
