NZ's top ref kept out of South Africa??

Repeating lies doesn't make them true, and that basically sums up your posts. The claim "he can perhaps be accused of bias" is still unsubstantiated garbage. It's like me saying "perhaps the moon landing was a hoax" and having a cry every time someone tries to hold me to my words. Drop the conspiracies mate.

Anyway...8 posts and Bryce's biggest critic still hasn't found any valid some criticism, validated his other claims about referee's being held back or given us any reason to believe Bryce Lawrence is incompetent to ref super rugby.

Don't worry though, you'll fit right in with our other crackpots on TRF. They provide most of the humor.

......

The article says SANZAR don't want him reffing there (because they don't want some sort of sideshow going on), while he wants to. Don't know whether this is accurate or not though.

I suggest you watch some videos of games that Lawrence has handled. Plenty of evidence there.

As for being his biggest critic, I am but one of many.

My knowledge of refereeing is obviously a good deal greater than your knowledge of etiquette and your ability to understand plain english.
I said he could perhaps be accused of bias, and a no time did I suggest any conspiracy, theoretical or otherwise.

As for opinionated garbage, read your own post.

Let's see how Brycie boy does in the games he has this year.
One thing is for sure, he can't do any worse than last year.

That aside, he is incompetent, and that is a fact.

Your basing this on what two games. He took part in four WC pool games and did ok. Again then compare how many rugby games the guys has ref'd in his career.

You say it is a fact that he is incompetent let us all know the facts to support your case and then we will all can form a opinion of your arguement. Offer evidence to support your claim is better than just broad sweeping statements.

The guy has admitted he made mistakes in the game and he did not perform well. He and his family have faced death threats and threats of violence should they go to S.A.
I am not sure many members of this site would tolerate that and why should he just because he is a ref?. Why should he risk his personal safety for a game.

At least Lawrenec isn't swearing any more to try and get his point across

Yea, and if you just watch some video's of the moon landing, you'd see plenty of evidence that it's faked.

See, your logic leads us to complete stupidity. I refuse to think like that, and I'd say most people on this site do as well.

Keep the comedy coming.

I don't mind people discussing this as long as it's kept civil...

Everyone has their opinion on officials, whether they're right or wrong is another matter

So would I be banned if I went on a rant about Monsieur Poite with possible expletives? Oh and maybe post a video of his hilarious injury last year.

I agree Lawrence didn't have a good day, kinda glad it happened. Now Boks supporters know how us kiwi's feel about Barnes and that 2007 quater final. If you think lawrence was bad barnes was worse - i reckon he had a 10+ point impact on the game to the french in the 2nd half alone.

So welcome to the club.

I love rugby but the one thing that league is doing so much better now is rules and officiating. You don't seem to get problems like this at or or nearly ass often in League.
Looking forward to the day Glen Jackson takes over as NZ's #1 ref. I think he's brilliant.

Yes, and none of it stands up when tested.

It's not about that game, it's about the fact that an incompetent and perhaps biased referee is considered fit to officiate at any level of the game.

I object to your use of the term "biased" in your post.

And he is fit to referee at some levels.... U10s for example!!

Reffing kids is tough done a bit myself this year all the complaints and the amount of injuries one kid (around 11) had his ankle scraped by a stud that incapacitated him for a few minutes and then kept asking me if he could check and see if it was bleeding as if the pain would suddenly amplify and another kid was completely kitted out from head to toe; scrumcap, body-warmer, gloves and tights.

Sorry bit off topic that.

I seem to have touched a nerve.
If I have upset or offended anyone then I do apologise.
If I have laboured the point then I also extend my apologies.

Opinions do tend to be subjective, and my opinion of Bryce Lawrence, which I formed long before RWC 2011, was based on watching him officiate during a number of Super Rugby matches.

Perhaps it's time to drop the subject and look forward to this year's SuperXV.

Regards to all.

Yeahh i would say that has far more to do with the differences between the sports than the quality of officiating.. No rucks, no contested scrums or lineouts, few guys on the feild, complete focus on the player with the ball

in part, but the use of the TMO is far better in league and how they give advantage to the attacking team with trys (benefit of the the doubt). so often now defending players do what they can to block the camera shot knowing that if the TMO can't see the try it wont be awarded.

then we had the south African TMO who made a mockery of the rules last year ruling on a pass outside the in goal area

Nope. It's just that when you post a thread based purely on opinion and represent it as fact, people's BS meter goes off and everyone responds in such a matter. And be a bit more original with your ideas for a thread ;)

yeah thats the point.

Oh, silly me. I was only half paying attention to this thread. Apologies.
