[November Tests 2016 EOYT] England vs. Argentina (26/11/2016)

Oh Makos, you've lost the plot again mate.

All the Poms have is the least changed team from the World Cup.
All they did was bring in an Australian coach because there isn't an Englishman who knows enough about rugby to run their own team.
First thing he did was make a Kiwi the English Captain. Now with their Aussie coach and their English captain they have managed to string a few wins together but its a long way from winning a RWC.

Olly is still so bitter he can't contain himself and his English arrogance comes bubbling out.
I can't wait till the 6 Nations when the Irish have a full side again and smash the powder puff girls into the dirt and send Mojo JoJo back to Oz.

It is a little funny when you put it like that. But you're missing the point about how bad SA and Aus have become and they don't seem to have any current plan set in motion to improve themselves.

Englands youth set up and domestic competition are ensuring they have a great future, along with their enormous player pool and obvious passionate support.

I don't see any of that in Australia and South Africa are just hemorrhaging players and has huge internal issues.

Ireland, England and the rest of the NH all have strong wealthy unions and domestic leagues.

The Super Rugby is a bit of a joke now, that's the premier SH competition, it used to be elite and a fantastic tight competition, now it's expanded into a huge mess that attempts to handicap the best teams and conference (NZ). The best SH competition now is the Mitre Mega Cup (NZ domestic comp).

I think England deserve some credit from completely turning their side around from a humiliating RWC campaign and I certainly now consider them and Ireland far more of a challenge than the current South African and Australian sides. I'm sure Hansen does as well.

Because if you banned everyone with an option it'd be just like Orwell's book.

I come on here to discuss rugby, not wade through pages of drivel from some uneducated idiot just trying to wind people up. There's no rugby content in the posts and it's certainly not topical for an England vs Argentina thread.

So don't mind people with a different opinion, just as long as it's relevant.

You cant say that you completly turn RWC around when you havent even played the next one. Yeah you won lot's of tests, you will win on saturday and go to 12th victory but you must win in RWC to reedem yourself. Same goes to Ireland.

What´s the point of being a beast for 4 years to then became a kitten in RWC? Sure you are on the right track and if this continues you will be in great position but dont get ahead of time.

I don't know if that argument really stacks up. Roko is back at back and we only have 1 winger in the 23. That's not competition, that Jones states Roko isn't good enough for international rugby with Jones' England. Harrison on the other hand has been continually kept in the squad even though his form doesn't warrant it. I'm not saying Harrison is good for England or not, I'm just saying Jones obviously rates him.

Completely agree with you assessment of him though. Looked underpowered and lost at points, but there is potential for this young lad.

He's not that young - 24, less than a year younger than Michael Hooper who's already racked up 65 caps. By that age you should be looking less at unproven potential and more at polishing towards the finished article. Good luck to him but there are others coming through with much higher ceilings.

Kind of agree with you except the class of 19 will be hugely changed from 15, so to some extent it has very little relevance. Sometimes I do wonder whether the focus on the RWC is a bit unhealthy - great tournament, but it's only 6 games every 4 years and there's a hell of a lot of rugby to play between times.

So what do we want to see from today's game?. Personally I would like a much stronger and more solid defensive display from England. We know we can score tries, but we need to demonstrate we can starve the opposition of points. This will be critical when it comes to tougher opposition like Ireland and NZ. If we can tighten up defence and continue to attack with confidence and flair then I'll be happy.

Also more intelligent game control. Player the game in the right areas of the field, and making sure we come away with points when in the red zone. Again this will be critical for future games. To some extent I will be looking very hard at how many points we leave out there.

Of course expecting the win. Not to take anything away from the Argies but we are currently in a much stronger position.

Weather looking to be dry so lots of fast ball moving through the hands. Keep the opposition moving, tire them out, then finish them off in the later stages.

Looking forward to this one.

I tend to agree with this. The RWC is a fantastic competition, and allows for massive bragging rights should you win, but what would you rather be. The no 1 team in the world consistently playing to the highest standard and generally winning matches, or 4/5th in the world being totally inconsistent but managing to pull it out the bag to snag a trophy? That being said to win you usually have to be no1 coming in but thats besides the point.

Well said pal

Against Fiji and to a lesser extent SA we've seen England playing with backs moves off set piece for probably the first time under Jones - would like to see more of that.

Agree on the defence - must do better. Hopefully the issues against Fiji were mainly laziness and complacency, but even so unacceptable

That's a good point. There's been some lovely set pieces that have given us some great go forward ball off the first phase, and in the Fiji game led directly to the try. So would also like to see more of that. Interesting some of the plays had a real Bath feel about them. I suppose that's not surprising given Fords influence.

Winner keeps the Falklands

Let's gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Also, shame to see Tuculet out. Been a fan of his since his season at Sale, very good player.
