Malaysia Rugby Union Super League 2011: 3rd Week 23 & 24th April 2011
ATM JLJ (behind) vs ATM Army (front).
Interesting results are expected this weekend as the MRU Super League enters its third week of the competition. All eight teams in the two-pool championship play their last pool games over the weekend and by Sunday evening the four semi-finalists will be decided to the play-off on Saturday 30th April.
The final will be held on Sunday May 08. Matches this weekend shift to Bellamy Grounds in lieu of the venue at Precinct Five, Putrajaya.

In Pool A, the tougher of the two pools, NS Wanderers and the defending champions take on ASAS in the first game this Saturday at 3pm to be followed by the Pool B clash between Bandaraya Dragons-ATM JLJ at 5pm.

Wanderers and ASAS have a win and a loss each under their belts, and will have to outplay each other in order to determine the rightful runner-up from Pool A. How this plays out will be of immense interest as Wanderers have never lost to ASAS in sevens, 10s, or in the full code since ASAS joined the premier rugby clubs five years or so ago.

A draw would still push Wanderers through as they have a better try average: 41-6 over ATM RAMD and 9-22 loss to COBRA last Sunday. ASAS lost 15-25 to COBRA in the first week and won 18-7 over ATM RAMD last weekend.
Pool A leaders COBRA are expected to sail past ATM RAMD in a match that will notice the absence of seven (7) players from the regular COBRA line-up. According to caretaker manager Mohd Azwan Azimi, who is filling in for regular manager Ellen Van Brussel on vacation in Holland, the absentees are students at the Bandar Penawar Rugby Academy, Johor.
"They are appearing for exams and so cannot make it to KL for this game. But we have sufficient replacements in our 30-man registered squad," Mohd Azwan said.
