LIONS PICK THEMSELVES

I wouldn't say Moriarty was on fire but that's probably just another thing we disagree on. Moriarty is a solid international class player but he's no world class player in my book. Wainwright was decent in the World Cup and has a much higher ceiling than Moriarty but again, not in the same league in my book.

In my opinion if Navidi and Faletau were fit they would've started the game for sure.

I'm a big fan of Ellis Jenkins to but there's no point discussing him as he's only just come back from injury and was injured at the time of the World Cup.
You're just saying that cause he's actually English ;)

Both are great 6's but find lots of their time at 8... and there they're merely serviceable. Wouldve loved to have seen a decent run of 6. Moriarty 7. Warburton 8. Faletau but was obviously never to be.

Think Wainwright is still only 23 or something, so I'm thinking he still has some serious scope for improvement. Kinda think Moriarty's call ups will be fairly few and far between though.

Another example of Wale's selection policy shooting themselves in the foot?

Feel like he dropped of a cliff after leaving Gloucester - may be misremembering tho!

Yeah agree. Wainwright definitely has time on his side and has potential to become world
Class. Moriarty I like but as you say his opportunities will probably be limited from here on out.

Hoping what Wainright get's a proper go at 8 in the summer tour while Faleteau is with the Lions.

Well he played a lot of the World Cup iirc... and that was obviously after the Dragons switch. Thing is with Moriarty, he's permanently damaged by that lower back injury... meaning he'll never be the player he could've been. Essentially, even when he's 'fit' he's actually quite crocked.

Hes definitely better there and him and Pivac both seem on the same page with regards to the fact they believe his long term future lies at 8.
I personally don't see it, hope I'm wrong as our cupboard seems perpetually bare at 8. He's a work horse but he struggles to really dent a defensive line imho... as I said though, I'd love him to prove me wrong.

He carries well off base but I know what you mean. The thing is he's big and good pace as well as decent footwork but you're right, he could do better on the ball carrying stakes.

If it was down to you you'd just play Carwyn now no doubt.

I kinda take that back about Moriarty's chances at furthering his caps being over... just checked and he's still only 26. A couple of injuries, a lions tour etc. He'll get more chances... hope he takes them.

Well, it's still too early to say... but I do like a lump at number 8. Must've been all that Scott Quinnell worship during my teens. If Carwyn can get some game time for the Scarlets next year, we'll soon see the lay of the land... ****ing helluva lump though fairplay... right up my street ;)

You didn't say they were over just limited. I think that's right to be honest. He doesn't scream "Pivac player" to me either. Ignoring our current first choice back row he's still behind Wainwright and possibly Botham as well. Then you've got Shane Lewis Hughes who I thought did well in the autumn all things considered. Not to mention Ellis Jenkins if he carries on playing well from his time off

Yeah, he's a ways down the pecking order eh. McLeod is probably ahead of him too.
