LIONS PICK THEMSELVES

I understand, but surely you should pick the best players according to you, Iet me explain I think tips is a fairly good player but against the SA pack he will be found otu at the Breakdown, tackle area, we don't need another centre or winger we need a seven that will at least hold his own at the tackle area and win his collisions, he makes a fair few tackles each game but how many of them stop the player passing or are dominant. I also think tips will go but wont have a start,
Did you watch the semi final against South Africa? He didn't get found out then. I understand where you're coming from as he's not got the biggest frame but I honestly can't ever recall I time where Tipuric gets dominated.

I'd also like to see:

1.Wyn Jones
2. Owens
3. Furlong
4. Bierne
5 AWJ
6. Navidi
7. Tips
8.Faletau
9. Williams
10.Bigs
11. Watson
12. Henshaw
13. Ringrose
14. LRZ
15. Hogg

Bench: Sutherland, George, Sinkler, Ryan, Curry, Murray, Russell, North

Not saying he'll be dominated Just ineffective,

Was he ineffective against SA in the semi final? And that was a game where he didn't have Faletau or Navidi alongside him in the back row but we still almost won the game. I seem to remember England, who had Curry and co, were pretty ineffective against South Africa in the final but it's Tips you're really worried about? Makes no sense to me.

For what it's worth, and at risk of annoying people with my personal definition of world class but I would consider Curry, Underhill, Watson and all of our back row as World Class players. As well as Stander, Bierne if you're considering him a 6 these days) Leavey and Doris. There will be world class players who don't make the squad (especially In the back row as there's so much talent there)

Most important thing is getting the blend of players/skill sets right in the back row.

I will rest my case. :D

For Wales Online, that's actually a pretty reasonable selection. I agree with Olyy though, Russell is still too hit and miss and has a habit of just going missing. Against England, Hogg was far more important to Scotlands tactical dominance than Russell.

Despite me giving him a bit of criticism, Biggar has played well this 6 nations, I don't think he totally suits the way Privac wants to play but he will suit how Gatland will play.
Henshaw has played well at 12 and North has looked pretty handy at 13 but I don't think you can really play them together.

Hogg is clearly the best 15 currently. Liam Williams is still struggling for form a bit, Daly is too Daly like and Keneen has played fine but not massively impressive.
Gatland likes Halfpenny although not sure what his injury situation is like, despite their insistence I don't think Stockdale is a 15, he's a winger who can cover there.

This for me - Assume itll be a big squad if that leaked schedule is right -
(Mostly in depth chart order, as much as possible with people convering multiple positions obvs)

1. Marler/Sutherland/Genge/Healy
2. LCD/Owens/George/Herring
3.Furlong/Sinks/Porter/Fagerson
4/5. Itoje/Bierne/Ryan/Gray/AWJ
6. Underhill/Ritchie/Navidi
7. Curry/Watson
8. Stander/Faletau simmonds (whispering)

9. Price/Davies/Williams/Care
10. Biggar/Russel/Faz/Sheedy
12. Henshaw/Davies/Manu
13. Ringrose/Slade/North

11/14. May/LRZ/Adams/Earls

15. Watson/Hogg/Williams

Yeah sorry I didn't phrase my post well. The 10 experts they selected came from outside Wales I believe. So your Clive Woodward's and various other publications and Individuals

If it was an out and out Wales online pick from just their writers then I'd imagine their would be a heavier Welsh bias no doubt.

I'm not trying to argue with you honestly, but people tend to look through different windows your looking through a different window than me, that all your opinions differ thats what makes a forum. But what I will point out to you is that Scrum 5 never picked Tipric neither do the majority it seems, ask yourself why?

Got no problem with that at all. Obviously it's all opinions that's why we're discussing them. As I've said, I think there so much quality in the back row you can make a very good case for about 6 different combinations of players, if not more.

The only thing I pulled you up on was this worry you have about the South Africans so I just pointed out the last time we played them and the last time England played them. That's all.

I've got no problem with you not rating him as we all seen the gam e differently but if your logic is faulty I will question it but if you just say I don't rate Tips that much I like such and such more then fine.

Cant remember much of the WC SA -W game but correct me if I'm wrong but Moriarty and Wainright were the other BRs, who at the time were on fire. I do believe that if Ellis Jenkins could have got back to form he would have been the lions 7

Yeah, I'm so hoping Ellis will go injury free for a while and establish himself as a regular in that Welsh backrow... phenomenal player and leader.

I wouldn't say Moriarty was on fire but that's probably just another thing we disagree on. Moriarty is a solid international class player but he's no world class player in my book. Wainwright was decent in the World Cup and has a much higher ceiling than Moriarty but again, not in the same league in my book.

In my opinion if Navidi and Faletau were fit they would've started the game for sure.

I'm a big fan of Ellis Jenkins to but there's no point discussing him as he's only just come back from injury and was injured at the time of the World Cup.
