Lions - Six Nations 2025 Auditions

So confirmed coaching team is
Andy Farrell (Ireland)
John Dalziel (Scotland)
Simon Easterby (Ireland)
John Fogarty (Ireland)
Andrew Goodman (Ireland)
Richard Wigglesworth (England)

Big L from Farrell bringing Wigglesworth.

Upskilling the attack coach of our biggest rivals of the UK teams isn't a high IQ move.

It's a flex isn't it, like using your phone a friend to tell them you're about to win a million.

"You might be wondering why I've brought you Wiggy, but rumour is you make a killer brew"

So...

Farrell - Head Coach
Easterby - Defence Coach
Daizel - Forwards Coach
Fogarty - Scrum Coach
Goodman - Attack Coach
Wigglesworth - ? (Kicking/Backs/waterboy?)

Interesting that Daizel is picked as forwards coach considering Scotland's forwards are probably the weakest part of the team and get bullied too often, but maybe that's just the players.

I'd say Wigglesworth is attack coach with Farrell and Goodman will work purely on strikeplays. That's what he did well at Leinster under Lancaster, has always struggled when given the reigns to the attack as a whole.

I feel england fans massively underrate Wigglesworth tbh

His attack plan when he became head coach of tigers for half the season was top class.

His biggest flaw is he is prob too loyal to his Friend too push back enough. But I think he's a massively all rounded backs coach

Hmmm I don't think we've seen enough good attacking rugby to really judge yet but at the moment he's certainly not shown anything lions worthy.

To be fair, England's performance this year was only bettered by Ireland's two wins in the period (and equalled bybIreland in 2022).

From a coaching POV, few enough have been standouts.

Wish I'd placed a bet on Scotland's forwards coach and England's attack coach making the trip.

I was pndering this yesterday, I reckon JD is a decent coach but the personnel is a little lacking to put in consistent big performances. Scotlands forwards played above what we had seen for a long time V France.

Respect to Faz for spreading the coaching across the nations (mostly, sorry Wales), no surprise the Ireland staff get a big representation. As for the backs, there is enough talent amongst the players that I would expect they drive a lot of how they want to play and the coaches support that.

One month to go, here's the Irish players I think will go. I wouldn't bring the players in bold.

Andrew Porter
Dan Sheehan
Ronan Kelleher
Tadhg Furlong
Binley Feelem
James Ryan
Tadhg Beirne
Joe McCarthy
Handsome Josh
Jack Conan
Caelan Doris (c)
JGP
Sam Prendergast
Mack Hansen

Bundee Aki
Robbie Henshaw
James Lowe
Hugo Keenan

18 overall. I would bring POM too tbh, can't think of a better midweek captain. Craig Casey also capitalising from no 9s putting their hands up in the 6n.

Feel bad for Jamie Osborne, I think he'd have played his way in had he gotten opportunities in the midfield.

Henshaw nowhere near it unfortunately.
Kelleher won't go either.
Prendergast I don't know either.
James Ryan also isn't rated by Farrell so think they all miss out.
