If Ireland play like they did against the USA, when they reach the knock out stages they are going to get smashed. If they can play like they did against Australia they might make the final.

Now that being said, I noticed something in both games. Vs USA, the states focused on roughing up the Irish by being more physical and preventing good opportunities, that ended up with 22-10 score. Vs Australia, Ireland focused on roughing up the Aussies, dominating the scrum and preventing good opportunities and ended up winning.

I think the Ireland vs Australia will show against any good team. When I say this, please keep in mind I'm not an Irish fan, but I feel Ireland learned their lesson during the 6N that they have to go after their opponent and not sit back (referring to France game in particular.)

not really u werent here when ireland were losing there warm up games i and i was saying ireland will do well in world cup and what u know they beat the aussies if you got no faith in your team just say so.

You see to think that be a fan of a team you have to think they're the best in the world, and if you don't think the best in the world then you think they're terrible

People can love their team/country, but not think they're the best team in the world

England aren't a dominant force and their character doesn't show[from games I have watched] BUT, and that is a big BUT... They know how to win crucial games and at the end of the day. All that History really shows is the scoreboard and who won what tournament

Look mate, I've seen more Ireland defeats on this forum than you have. I want Ireland to win the World Cup just as much as you or the next Irishman but I don't think they will. That's not a lack of faith in the team(I just think that New Zealand are going to win the WC) and I'm just warning you that you might want to ease down with the predictions(Or guarantees infact), which of course are your right, so off you go with them if you want. Just my opinion.

But on your post, even though I see where you're coming from, Aus are one of the best sides in the world, and Ireland didn't give them a chance to play their natural game.
AND we all know anything can happen in the World Cup, So i'd say Irelands chances of winning the World Cup are as good as NZs.

Just a thought in about 11 games this year including the world cup games Ireland have won 5/11. This is including a narrow win over Italy. Hence there world ranking at the moment.
Again if they play in the knock out stages as they did against the USA they will struggle. Don't get me wrong I think Irish rugby is superb the provincial club teams show that.

I am sure the young Northampton Saints players in the England squad would say they are pretty experienced at club/knock out comps, and you do have some very experienced players both at club and world cup level in the team.
