June Internationals: New Zealand v France, First Test (08/06/13)

I don't think it's the celebration of the hit that people don't like, but the mocking of an injured player (I'm not saying you were doing that - I've got terrible Internet signal at work so I can't load any of the pages of this thread apart from the last one )
I remember a couple of seasons ago Dave Seymour clashed heads with someone at a ruck and got knocked out, when he woke up he was heavily concussed and kept trying to stand up and falling over and Tigers fans were laughing/jeering at it - left a very sour taste in the mouth.

Spot on.............everyone enjoys a good hit when it is one. This was not one!

Not at all I was doing. I was more celebrating the way Ranger ran rather than anything. In the end, the number 15 was fine - like I said, he was a bit wobbly, sure. But was running around (made some good runs in the dying minutes) and didn't even need the concussion test (that I noticed).

Things like that shouldn't really warrant having a crusade against someone - to which I kinda feel some posters here are on about. Having a good, civil debate and merits on whether a player/team had a good game on the other hand, is great. Things like yoe making me out to having some sort of agenda, is not.

I can move on if that is not the case, or rather if they can assure that they won't continue with that spiteful crap.

admartian, you are a caricature of the NZ rugby fan. Lots of verbal gesticulation, overly exuberant and downright childish/immature at times - celebrating Huget's knock out coz he bumped his temple on some person's knee...?
Taking anything you possibly can to try to gratuitously nag the opposing side's fans.......mind you, online ; and reacting in an extremely agitated way to criticism or mere remarks from those said fans.

Things like "what I said causing you grief" "chill pill"...admartian, friend, I dunno how old you are (not insulting you, but according to your posts I can't imagine you're above 20-22) but I come here to post comments about the game. Period. Criticism can be a positive thing, and playful teasing is only that....*playful teasing*

Just, please man, I'm asking politely now: take it easy.

(not directed to you)
If I've underestimated the NZ pack, no need to go "HAHAHA !!! SO MUCH FOR THE ALMIGHTY FRENCH SCRUM !!" like, I'm sorry :p, guess I just...underestimated the NZ scrum a tad. Last times out, they WERE getting pushed back a few times in a few matches. They weren't doing great in Twickenham for e.g., and then France pushed England back in the 6N confrontation...so I figured if A beats B and B beats C, then A beats C...that's all :)
I still expect France to come in and push harder the next test and have an edge. Don't forget we've got a main component missing in that first row.

The French has what it takes to win the next 2 tests. Needless to say I think we all know that.

I'm seriously hoping the French win the second game for the sake of a good test series. It's already shaping to be a good series (I found this first test quite boring IMO) but it'll be even better if the French win game 2, hell they deserve a win after their last 2 encounters with the Blacks.

VIVE LA FRANCE!

haha, it's nice of you to post that. And yes France really, really should have at least drawn that match, I mean Picamoles really just had to catch a ball and make 2 steps literally for that...and the time before this, well...:D let's just not talk about it.

Sure mate.

I've tried to do it the easy way, to appeal and ask for clarification as to where this (see yoe's post) is coming from9 and putting words and ascribing characteristics from nowhere, and generalising one person, he/she has never met) - And am met with this?

You end with "politely" after posting what is arguably an personal insult/attack? I'm really not looking for a fight. I was merely posting in the heat of cheering for my team. Surely that's not a crime?

Please, try to explain without insults - as I don't think I've insulted you. :)

You are the last person to say that other people shouldn't criticise, or to take it easy or platfully tease. Apart from sigesige00 you are probably the person that agitates the most people on this forum. Once again being a hypocrite doesn't win you any fans over. Look in the mirror before you point fingers.

Some people take some hits, and the repurcussions thereafter much more serious than others. While we all feel sorry for the guy and hope he's okay, i bet, most of you have had a chuckle once or twice when a rugby player has walked a bit wobbly after a hit. That's human nature.

Last week I had a chuckle when I saw a youtube clip, of a bunch of guys in sports games that had some funny walk-it-off moments. Now I didn't see the Ranger incident nor the incidents that happened before these guys got up and tried to walk it off, it still puts a smile on my face to see people attempt humour out of a serious matter. How is this different than that of Cipriani being hit by a bus?

^ ah you again . Are all those unfounded, false claims there because I said the safa accent was bizarre ?

There is nothing hypocritical about me. I do look in the mirror. And I WILL point fingers, when necessary. Thank ya, much love...

EDIT: oh also, you're wrong about the Huget remark. Don't try to trivialize it. It wasn't playful teasing, the spirit in those posts is ill-minded and seeks anger from the other side. The fact that the game was so close obviously left a mark on the NZ fans, as it always does, nothing new.

I have to say that admartian's comments of "knocked the ***** out" was pretty silly. I mean, who says that kind stuff? It does seem like he was agitated that the game was closer than expected, and had to say something silly to try and get a reaction from the French fans (which he did). But yeah comment wasnt necessary. My 2c anyways if its worth anything.

Anyways my feelings about the game: To be honest I was disappointed that the we didnt win by more, but saying that, it was the first test of the year and Im hoping they improve their performance in the next test, not just win but dominate haha.

Kudos to the French for making it a tight match, but as much as I like watching tight matches, with back an forth action, Id much rather see the abs blow teams out.

^ haha...well sorry man, I've got to disagree with you !! France MUST win one of the remaining 2 !! We're France, goddamn it ! It's a shame with the numerous quality players we have that we're not playing great as a team like we did in the Nov. tests...

ZeFrenchy: I was never a fan of Ouedraogo. He brings nothing offensively, and even on defense he gets a bit lazy/not very high IQ reading the opposition's attack. But he is an int'l level flanker...I'm sure you're actually happier with Chouly coming in. I've yet to truly assess his potential, I must admit...your sentiment ?

KTFO os a common term among MMA fans!

Yet you don't see anybody lambasting an MMA fan for saying that fighter was Knocked the F out.

Just because it's uncommon in rugby, even though it happens a lot, and because someone appreciated the collision, now he's an unsympathetic ass. Come on guys, stop being so touchy.

In ye old days, knockouts was part of rugby, especially during a brawl. Since when did we become pussies about a collision where one guy gets off worse than the other guy. Rugby is a collision sport, if you don't like the end result, don't watch!!

It's one thing to appreciate a collission, it's another to laugh at a potentially serious result. Have you ever been concussed it's not a nice feeling. We expect and enjoy big hits in rugby but a knee to the head is something that can be very serious. That's part of mma fine your aim is to win and one possible way to do that is by KO it's certainly not an aim in rugby. Concussion is a very serious issue in the modern game not just for the immeidiate effects but it's future effects just look at former American Footballers and boxers. A number of former players have come out talking about the issue so I don't know what you're saying about the old days Heineken.

I have been concussed, and I agree, it's a terrible feeling, as I also said, I didn't see the collision with the knee. I'm rather taking this point of view as a generic form. Guys get knocked out, by knees, big tackles, bumping heads with team mates, etc. from the old days and now, it has always been a part of rugby. I just think guys take some collisions a bit more oversensitive than others, if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.

Here's the incident then.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ljFQzNlZUI8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

I don't think it's being oversensitive to want to make sure the guys actually in a decent stat and to think it's immature that people are laughing at the guy being knocked out.

Huget is someone who seems to be particulary unlucky with stuff like this.

Thanx. That was a poor attempt at a tackle by Huget, his head placing was totally wrong. And if this is a recurrance for him, all the more reason. He didn't learn from his mistakes, so then you will get hurt.

As for the comments, yes they are unwanted. But he was KO'd. Not Ranger's fault. Why punish Ranger? If the french actually watched some Super Rugby, they would have seen how Ranger does a bump, and that was textbook Ranger. Nothing wrong with that.

IMHO it's partnof the game, and just something people are trying to milk to make even more controversy between France and NZ, as if there weren't enough.

He got knocked the F out. The onus was on him to protect his head. He committed himself to the tackle, he has to live with the consequences.

?

I haven't said anything bad about Ranger?

It's not about controversy between the two countries it's about a general attitude.

terribly sorry ! We'll do our best next time, promised ! ;)

urr....why is there an ENTIRE CONVERSATION on some random incident ?...guy accidentally gets semi-KO'ed...sooooo much to say about that !! :D

EDIT: and yes, wo-ho-how !!! Dear Lord ! Those youtube comments....some gooooood, solid kiwi fan material right there. Like, no offense to the ones on here who actually have a brain; but you've got to admit Kiwi fans are the most juvenile/biased in most probably the entire rugby world. Some of those comments I didn't make when I was 10 years old...it's pretty unsettling.

Okay, so then why is this incident more of a concern than other concussion/KO incidents? Is it because one guy went on and said he got KTFO? Or because the manner in which he said it? Bearing in mind, that my computer hasn't evolved into sensing the manner in which a person has said something...

I have to use my own judgement in trying to understand what the person was trying to say and in which mood he was in when saying it. And usually it's not as whet the commentor had intended.

I'm using this incident to highlight what I perceive to be a poor attitude of some fans.

Fair enough, and I'm using it to highlight that some fans, are a bit over sensitive when it comes to these incidents.

Yes some guys are a bit douchy when their guy inflicted the pain, instead of recieving it, but that's no different to when a fan's team wins and he/she makes douchy comments. We live with it...

Yeah i thought this was a rugby forum not an mma forum, my mistake. Anyways, he didnt even get "KTFO" if you want to see someone get "KTFO" take a look at what happened to Weepu or Conrad Smith.

Mate this seems so silly to even discuss, of course we love big collisions, part of the reason why we love the game.
