The switch option seems to have some merit, at least worth a try before dropping anyone.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Heaslip there. He was one of our bester performers on that weekend, certainly the best of our backrows.

On a (sort of) sidenote, it was great to see Dominic Ryan back in action on the weekend. He's always been a personal favourite of mine, largely due to his habit of murder people in the tackle. With Ruddock's development in something of a stall at the moment there's a good chance he could push into the Heineken Cup team next season.

No point having him come up now tho because kidney wont put him in, better wait till a new manager comes in and shakes things up.

Completely agree and in fact I would love to see if he could push his way into the starting 15 this season. I really think a backrow of 6. O'Brien 7. Ryan and 8. Heaslip would be very well balanced and would bring the best out of each player.

Could do, but Ryan isn't exactly a traditional 7. He's better than O'Brien is there to be sure and with Jennings on the wane (based on this season's performances) he could very well carve out a spot in the team there. His foraging skills, albeit not of the quality of a classic 7, allied with Heaslip's would hopefully be enough to allow us to be seriously competitive at the breakdown.

I'll always have a soft spot for him after that immense wrap tackle on Parra in Clermont last year that saved us the away bonus point.
