Ireland v France

Once upon a time the Northern hemisphere had amazing referees. No longer.

France win.

Chabal should never have thrown the careless pass in the Ireland 22. Could have been costly.

Problem lies at centre for France.

Earls took Medard out without the ball then - Medard went to collect the ball, knocked it back, was going to go back for it and was tackled by Earls
Same thing happened earlier on in the attack

I'm getting blue inthe face telling about it. The irish have been infringing off the ball like there's no tomorrow...

Either team could have won and Ireland deserved more but if France with a partly second choice team can beat Ireland in Dublin, they will have a good chance at Twickenham too

On that evidence, neither side should worry England. Or Wales, oddly enough.

What a game, France only started to play rugby in the second half and even then they made so many errors.
Happy France won.

If France hadn't've won that they'd have a very strong case for a complaining about Pearson (they still do/should, to be fair, was dire)

Let's hope France don't learn from this match and play poorly next week

I'm not sure I want to watch the game at Twickers...gonna be nasty. France to lose by 30...

That wasn't partly second choice it was just bad choice.

Pearson seemed to go on a system of keeping the penalties even at the scrum. Suited Ireland.

Forward pass for the Heaslip. These days it seems that slightly forward passes are allowed.

Didn't see the off the ball stuff from Ireland except for the medard one in the first half where he was slowed down and the ball went to touch and the Earls one at the end. Everyone would have done the earls one, just looked like he thought the man was gonna get the ball, everyone does it.

Happy with performance, slightly dissapointed by result but considering my pre-match feeling. I'm ok with it.

Also, looking at the backrows, thought Ireland were gonna get eaten at the breakdown, but we did very well. Traille was poor.

I have a feeling that France will get whalloped in Twicks but England will crumble in the Aviva. Don't ask why, it's a FEELING.

France ALWAYS play poorly against the English though, even in the past couple of years when England were crap they still imploded every time they saw that white shirt. I reckon France are going to get destroyed in London.

Actually I didn't understood why Parra was taken off so early. What Lievremont is doing? Looking for the depth in RWC? Mayby Medard should be dropped to full-back, Rougerie - wing, and Pointrenaud at 13 with Jauzion at 12. Strong midfield at defence and creative offence.

Ireland gave France that victory. What is going on with their hands? They drop the ball at every given opportunity!

Don't agree with that. France were just as guilty of handing Ireland ball and territory. The first try came directly from a simple dropped ball from Pointrenaud. Did the second try come from the knock on by France in their own 22 aswell, think it was a second row who knocked it on.

Ireland played better than they did against Italy, but still weren't all that good. I though O'Leary was appalling (bar his try), kicked away good ball, and generally took the wrong options. Bases his game too much off Phillips' it seems lol. Do Ireland only have one attacking move? The loop move can work, as Leinster have shown, and Sexton is very good at excecuting it, but my god it became predictable and utterly repetative to watch. It's maybe ok to do it once or twice in a match to catch the opposition out, but they must have tried it 7 or 8 times today. Seems wuite easy to defend against to imo, just need to watch Sexton, as to wheather he runs after passing the ball or not.

One of the worst offensive displays I've seen from france. What's up with Lievermonts loving for Traille, Jauzion is a much better player? Also not sure that Rougerie is a centre.

Overall, not great. Both will have to improve significantly if they want to challenge England. Both are fully capable of doing that though!

Ireland scored 3 tries France scored 1. Ireland had France on the ropes at times and France looked far from convincing. The difference between the 2 teams was in the end Pearson who had a shocker in the middle. Quite clearly on one occasion(heard through my ref talk radio) Waynes Barnes called "Blue 4 in the side penalty Green" and Pearson called "Green 4 in the side". Barnes corrected him that it was Ireland's penalty but was ignored! Fitz's disallowed try was forward pass but it was backward compared to some of the touchdown passes france threw! Parra when turned by DOC held on for a whole 24 seconds while O'Brien battles on his feet and through the gate for the ball..outcome? Penalty France as O'Brien was "playing the ball on the ground"..while on his feet through the gate....... At times it smelled of an Englishman looking after his national interest... You really needed a ref talk to understand what a farce the refereeing performance was. I could list off more dreadful calls but my blood would boil! The last thing I'll say on it is that France CLEARY were dropping the last scrum in order to concede a penalty because Ireland that that stage were just about ontop at trhe scrum..their front row keot droping, boring and trying to come up when the push came on from Ireland and what does Pearson do?...award a penalty so he can get down the tunnel for a nerve stiffener... Really the IRB need to get scrums sorted as a priority before the RWC, but surely next on the list should be a review of the refereeing panel because some of the jokers being given vital games out there is sickening and a blight on the game!

PS TOL's kick on the full plus his various attempts at box kicking tell me 2 things...he should not even travel to the RWC as we have Reddan, Stringer and Boss who are better than him...and second would be that Kidney has a clear game plan and involved kicking posession anytime we have it in our 22..and that aont good.

Overall Championship wise...France loss at Twickers...English loss at Aviva...Ireland 2nd England/France 1st/3rd

Oh dear! Unfortunately it was clear to everyone else that Pearson was indeed appalling, but it was France who was on the end of it not Ireland!

When DOC turned Parra, France got the penalty because DOC did nopt release the tackler. O'Brien did everything right, but DOC made no attempt to release the player or move from an offside position. Right call by the ref. Ireland were dropping almost every scrum imo. France should have been awarded almost every penalty scrum time, but Pearson for some reason thought Ireland can actually scrummage! Odd.
