Ireland v France

Downey is a good player and he always makes the gain line. I think he works for Northampton because they have such a solid pack that provides him with quick ball to hit on to and break tackles. If he were to play for Ireland we would have to completely change our style of attack and allow he would provide a good attacking option, he would also struggle to create at this level and I don't think Downey would fit into the team. I also think Downey is a great physical 12 a Northampton but at international level I think he would find it so much harder to make the gain line. I think Mcfadden is a good option at 12 as he would add a bit of penetration in the centres which could be used.
