Ireland v England

And on the other side of the coin, what business does a politician have on a sports field in the first place*? He was psyched up for a game of rugby, not pandering to the local voters.

More team captains should snub the high-all-mighty. They have no business out there anyway.

*Unless of course Wasps are involved, where politics is what allowes them to be awarded ***les year on year without earning the things...

you clown, she's head of state, unopposed in her second election so no need to pander to voters, she wouldn't have even needed to campaign to get reelected had she been opposed. It's how we do things and we're not going to change just to pander to some narrow minded idiots.

And? She'd a bloody politician. If Blair ever turned up at Twickenham, it's not for the benifit of the England team. It's PR for the Labour party. Same deal whenever any parasite goes to a major sports even anywhere in the world.

The only reason the Irish have such a bee in their bonnet over that is because Johnson was England skipper and wasn't interested. Had it been Wales or Scotland in that position, I guarantee that nowhere near as much of a fuss and fiasco would have been made about it by the Irish press.

And quite frankly, nobody else in the rest of the world even cared.

Had it been Wales or Scotland it wouldn't have happened in the first place. Maybe you should read up on the difference between the President and a TD.

Yep, absoloutely right. The Weslh and Scottish wouldn't have done it because they're not ********. Unlike the English.

And I assume a TD is an Irish MP. Which would make the President the Irish PM... So they're still bloody parasite politicians on PR excercises with no business on a rugby pitch.

Irish PM is an Taoiseach. Also fair play to johnson, i don't think he did it just for kicks. He was psycing out the irish team. And it worked i guess

no the irish president is not basically the PM she is the president. she hold the executive office yet has limited powersin reality excepty to pass laws already approved by the dail and seanad but i do love the way you despite not knowing this you decided to hop right in and decide whether or not she has the right to be allowed on the pitch before a game, well done

wrong again, she's Head of State not Head of Government which is what the Taoiseach is so no she's not a parasite and get off your high horse it's nothing to do with being English it's to do with Johnson himself.

why should a British person care about another country's heirarchical system? We've a history of ignoring that sort of thing... the Irish of all people should not have been surprised.

That's what I miss most about England being good - just that feeling of superiority over everyone else. The fact that any opposition could yap for as long as they liked about how the English were all arseholes, but come gametime we'd ram it back down their throats. I have lots of respect for extreme arrogance/ confidence that can be backed up.[/b]

Oooooo I was soooo close to jumping all over that one.

This one made me laugh though. Quality post. However Britain aint a country is it? Is this some subtle way of sharing the responsibility with your Scot and Welsh brothers? Surely this is an English thing no? Wheres the pride!

I for one think we should recolonise Ireland to stop this sort of debate happening.

Johnno > Irish government.

;)

You couldnt afford us! The way our financial system is deteriorating that move could well be welcomed by many. Then again, maybe we'll all just pack up and move over there again to save you the bother :)

You're welcome to come here, only in exchange for all the non Irish people we have here who are 'up for the craic', wear shamrocks on Patrick's day and claim some dubious ancestry because they really get on my ***s.

I've got every reason to do that since I have fam in Dublin, my grandma's from there, go a couple generations back in my family and there's O'Briens and Thomonds... yet I'm as English as they come and hence view the Irish much like the Americans see Canada ;)

Go to America, the so called "irish" over there are a joke. Most of them havent been outside of New York yet still consider themselves Irish. I went to the big apple with an Irish friend from Meath and we had a great time but some of the Nationalist views were really harsh and it was quite uncomfortable in some places for me. Good job they have now been marginalised by the fair thinking majority.

In fairness thats probably because of people like Ginger O'Genius and his opinions on greater nations.

When you say the fair thinking majority do you mean other more recent immigrants yeah?

I think if I expressed my true feelings on this matter it could turn quite ugly.....I`ll leave it there!

I'd rather be ran over by a heard of wild boars .. than do something that would give money..in anyway to that pillock.

It's nothing to do with him being english, it's the fact he's a shithead, simple as and I don't really think the role of president here is too important
but what he did was completely disrespectful, something Woody would never have done
