In Argentina: The working class hates Rugby

I think you are missing the point yet again. The ANC doesn't hate rugby. They like rugby actually. Their ignorance is with their ideology of the teams having a squad that is a representative of the demographic of the country.

I've said it so many times. Don't make comments about something you don't know anything about. Just stop.

Many South Africans say here that there are still many black South Africans who still hate rugby. You said yourself that in this thread:

This whole part could have been written by a South African as well, if you change the names and so on. there would have been absolutely no difference.

finally a decent post by you Conrad. Keep it up

So... In just two months the situation has changed in South Africa and now 100% of the black population love rugby?

I'm confused about Sumo's reference to whites and blacks... all the people in his pictures look as white as Mitt Romney to me.

You know that not all Black South Africans are part of the ANC?? There were 29 political parties in our last General Elections held earlier this year.

You need to understand that there is a distinction between a political party, and a person/race. The ANC also have white, coloured, indian and asian people representing them. A political party has mandates, and they must follow those mandates. A person has the right to freedom of expression, and is protected by the Constitution.

There are over 30 million black South Africans. I think it would be safe to say that not all 30 million of them hates or loves rugby. If all of them hated it, then we wouldn't have had players like Siya Kolisi, Trevor Nyakane, Chilliboy Ralepelle, Lwazi Mvovo etc. as traditionally black Saffas playing rugby.

The ANC, as the majority party member, looks to get all sport, not just Rugby, to be a representative of the Country. And their aim is to have it show the demographic of the country. Their idea/plan is not a showing of hatred towards the sport, it's their view in correcting mistakes they feel needs to be changed due to Apartheid. They want to enforce a quota system. If you want to use the word hatred, then rather use it in a manner showing that the ANC hated the Apartheid-regime, and that White people ruled over them.

Never was it the case that they hated the sport of rugby. Why would they hate it, if they want more and more black people to play it?? Why would a team like the Bulls organise a final in SOWETO against the Stormers, to give the Black community an opportunity to attend a Super Rugby final and benefit from the sport?

Surely not out of hatred...

Surely there was some resentment towards rugby though. What it stood for and the people who ran it.

I think that's what CS is getting at.

Yeah, but there is difference between resentment and hatred. If it was hatred, then the ANC would've gone and prevented the entire country of playing the sport. Instead, Mr. Nelson Mandela, Leader of the ANC, went and embraced the idea of all being equal, and asked a nearly entire white Springbok team to win the World Cup.

The hatred between races are still present in SA, there's no doubt about that. But there has never been an instance where there has been an open display of hatred towards rugby. The ANC loves protests... but in our 20 years of democracy, I've never seen a protest at a rugby match.

aye. I understand that, i was just pointing out that maybe CS is confusing resentment with hatred.

In Argentina there are no black people. We had black slaves in the period in which we were a Spanish colony but they died in the wars we we had. Argentina is not like USA or South Africa, where there is a notable difference between blacks and whites.

So it's very difficult to establish a single parameter for the color of skin. Argentina is not like England where blacks, Polish and English there, here are deep differences in social classes.

It's hard to explain to an Aussie because in Australia there are no socio-economic problems as Latin America. Perhaps a South African understands better the situation since they have similar problems in their country.

Here, the working class doesn't have to eat. Here the poor have to commit crimes every day. The other day I spoke with an Italian about this, and he told me that in his country is very different, in Italy there are no marked differences in social class such as Latin America, where part of the population has a lifestyle of first world and the rest of the population live such as the poorest countries of Africa.

The differences that may exist between an Aussie from the high class and an Aussie from the middle class are minimal compared to the differences between rich and poor that exists in Argentina or Brazil. Here, there is a war between rich and poor, is equal to Israel-Palestine because there are many economic differences, Latin America is one of the most unequal regions in the world. So an Aussie or a Canadian, from the first world countries with healthy economies, never understand the situation 100% if you don't live here.

Ok, I was wrong to mention the ANC, I acknowledge my mistake. My point is still valid, in South Africa there are still many blacks who hate rugby because they consider it a white sport. In South Africa there is an exodus of white population to countries such as England or Australia. The South African government had to ask the UK to stop hiring South African doctors because it can affect the development of their country. Many white farmers in rural areas live in a war against black population to defend their land. In South Africa there are still people who can't overcome differences from Apartheid.

Not very safe for a white boy walking the streets of Soweto and this I have heard from several sources. From Argentine journalists during the FIFA WC 2010 and also the Argentine journalists specialized in rugby. In South Africa there is still a lot of hate and rugby remains a predominantly white sport, so it doesn't surprise me that many blacks still hate rugby such as many Argentines from the working class.

it's not the Sport that they hate!! How am I going to get this through to your thick skull??!!

Ah yes, talking to Conrad. A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

hhmmm...eso es interesante, pendejo parfumado...(es amoroso, amigo...i ya sabes !...).
I hear you man. Good stuff...I like your straight-shootingness, fk subtleties we're not clothing designers...reality is far more grim and humans animalistic than today's world loves to think. Just 'cause we sit in our first world, Western little fukk bubble loaded with fabricated diarrhea full to burst, we give lessons in democracy and solidarity and tolerance and what not. Absolute, utter fuccking bullshhit. Philosophy is great when it's about existence and God and stuff and it's confined strictly to books, but the daily life in this world has nothing to do with principles and heroic stances. Race, religion, interests...those problems are the world's headlines, every day. Well, in the real world that is, not in France or other dormant regions of this God-forsaken piece of shiit...

Yeaaah, dis is angry Big Ewis, BAM mothefukka !! :p

My thinking is that Conrad was pretty terrible at football and was always picked last to play in school. The bitterness festered, leaving him the twisted empty shell of a human being we see today.

You are IRISH! The most popular sports in Ireland are Gaelic football and hurling. I'm sure I'm a better football player than you, by faaaaaaar

Oh FFS!

I never said I hate football, I'm actually a football supporter as ALL Argentines. I just hate the football supporters extremist group who hate rugby and want to eliminate rugby of our country. They are fools who never played rugby and just hate our sport by stupid social stereotypes.

Many (not all) are celebrating the defeat of the Pumas. You understand that? So they are not patriots, they always have negative things to say about the rugby. You still didn't understand the point.

Conrad is a sort of mental patient who just run away from the asylum, don't take his comments seriously. Ahh! By the way, Conrad and Sumo is the same person.

This is a RUGBY's forum, ok? Do you understand? Here, we love Rugby. Here, we talk about Rugby. Then you should do the same, so far you only talk about football and NBA, you should talk rugby in a RUGBY forum. You only talk about The Rugby Championship, I don't know why you're here

I invite you to discuss about RUGBY in the thread I made to discuss the most important Super Rugby game of this round:

http://www.therugbyforum.com/threads/33560-2014-Super-Rugby-Waratahs-v-Highlanders-(Round-18)

At least do you know the difference between Tahs and Landers?

They prefer to be called West Britons.

Yeah, because the Irish love the British!

I'm really enjoying the smug, superior attitude you're taking here. If this is how you talk to people who don't know much about rugby I'm not surprised they don't have much time for you. Because you're a prick.

He insulted me, I'm just defending myself. You should see ALL the discussion, not only what I write:
